I'm new to TD and not sure if this was posted already. If so, I apologize in advance. I wasn't aware of this until a friend sent it to me this week. Just made me appreciate the levity of the Meaux vs. pieces that much more.

Bless her! She is a beautiful strong woman. I am amazingly proud to have her at LSU.

Long read, but very much worth it.

That's a very well-written, sad story. It is a real talent to be able to take personal tragedy and make the readers feel that anguish. As someone who struggles with chronic depression myself, I found it a very tough read, but a reminder of how important mental health is to not only me but especially my family.

Mo, you should really pull that piece down off of Tumblr. It's very marketable: your public persona, the scholar-athlete capable of amazing feats, the family tragedy, the loss of innocence and the rebirth of faith through perseverance. This is the stuff of bestsellers, speaking tours and guest-spots on Oprah. Oh yeah, and lots of people will be educated and inspired by your story.
There's no doubt that you have some contacts in the LSU public relations department. You should see if they know anybody who would be interested in publishing your story and launching a PR campaign once you graduate. You should start a blog immediately.

Wow. My 12 year old daughter met Mo during the LSU Soccer camp. My daughter plays keeper for her team and absolutely idolizes Mo. I think I'll have to keep this story and let her read it in a few of years. I don't know that I can let her read it right now.

Wow! What a testimony of how the Lord has worked in her life.

Pretty heavy stuff. She seems like a sweet, genuine person. I'm sure she's still working through some of her pain, though.
Jesus. I don't know if I could have handled that situation as well as she did. I go on a binge when LSU loses a game.
