good report

quote:

18. Les Miles is a class act. Watching Dana Holgorsen’s behavior during the game Saturday reminded me of this.

every other shot of Holgorsen on TV was him mouthing profanity at LSU players or the refs,$50 the rest of his mange looking hair falls out this year.

I had a great time in Morgantown but did not go to High St. I am much older than the college crowd. Went to Keglers both Friday night and Saturday and enjoyed the welcoming attitude of College age people and older. And to the guy parked next to us in the Blue Lot, "Dude, we did not empty your cooler." You gotta put that thing inside. I would make the trip again.

Not everyone had such a good experience. WWLTV is reporting that four LSU fans were attacked after the game, hurt pretty seriously.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- Morgantown police say four LSU fans were attacked after the game against West Virginia, with one of them suffering severe head injuries.

The attack occurred late Saturday as spectators left Milan Puskar Stadium. In a news release, the Morgantown Police Department said someone threw a rock through an open window of the vehicle carrying the four fans.

Several people then approached the car and began assaulting the driver. The three others in the car were also assaulted.

The Charleston Daily Mail (LINK ) reports that the most seriously injured LSU fan sustained a broken nose, a crushed eye socket and other injuries. He was taken to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for surgery.

Morgantown Police are investigating the attack with the university's Department of Public Safety.

Honestly, I'm surprised to hear all of the negative comments. Our experience was virtually 100% posotive there. The fans were enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We were welcomed everywhere we went and treated graciously by WV fans. Sure we encountered a few taunters, but nothing to the level of the SEC venues I've been in.

I was impressed with their fan base, traditions, and their tailgating and game day environment. I would not miss the chance to go back if they play again, and would gladly welcome them into the SEC!

We had a good experience as well. We got lots of handshakes and "Welcome to Morgantown" as we walked to the stadium. We did hear some "F LSU"'s from the younger crowd. I've also contacted the Guiness Book of World Records and informed them of what may be the world's least creative sign. A WVU was walking into the stadium proudly displaying his homemade "Eat Poo LSU" sign. He colored it with crayons and everything. Real man of genius.

I've been going to LSU games and doing the tailgating thing for many moons now.

The demeanor of LSU fans changed considerably FOR THE BETTER right around the time the program turned the corner with Saban's arrival circa 2000. Prior to that I'll admit we had a heck of a lot more jackasess.....Anyone else not agree with this assessment???

i absolutely do not agree.

when you have 50K people on campus who are there just for the tailgating and never saw the inside of a college classroom, much less an LSU classroom, trouble is abrewin.

I saw a change for the worse after we won the NC.

Based on everything I have read, WV has a serious image problem. Low admission standards, classless students from where ever. We are tough on visitors, however the younger crowd there seems to be a couple of steps lower than normal. I was in favor of them coming to the SEC, however after the assalt on the LSU family attending the game we don't need that kind of fan base in our league. I hope we never play them again.

Reading this board I feel like the positive experiences far out weigh the negative ones (which is great). When I was a student at WVU I was always aware of my peers behavior, and embarrassed. My honest assesment is it has nothing to do with where the students are coming from (out of state myself) more so with the quality of student. Our admissions are a joke, half of these dumb asses will wash out within 2 years anyways, but WVU could nip the issue in the bud by hiking up the admission requirements.

Unfortunately as with anything, one negative experience seems to get far more exposure than 10 great ones. I just hope those of you who did have a good time continue to tell your friends, and those who didn't I apologize. From my observations at least, the most staunch anti-WVU people seem to have been those who did not attend the game, furthering my point about the stories.

I am sorry to hear of your bad experiences..I love Morgantown and think it should be enjoyed by all, except Pitt fans!

As for the language upon arrival, there were two kids, which were arrested, going into classes yelling profanities and tiger bait on Friday, so as you can imagine this fired up most of the students...sorry, but I guess we all have a few bad apples in our crowds, most of ours just happen to be from Jersey...I'd prefer someone in LSU purple anyway over a Jersey kid in WVU gold..

As for parking, yeah it sucks...imagine being late to class and not being able to find a spot at all...

As for the booing of injuries, your team was worse than watching a game of soccer...they would lay there, run off the field and be back ithe game the following play. Happened 3 times, which is a good strategy, but lack of class and respect to the game....

bullshite.

1st of all there were 6 of us, not 2. 2nd we yelled no profanities. We went into ONE classroom, tigerbaited them for 10 seconds, & left. Campus police detained us later on at your student union, but nobody was arrested.

I actually talked to a girl who was in the class later that night at a bar. The students in the class thought it was hilarious, the professor not so much. That's why he dispatched Paul Blart after us. If you're trying to justify this guy getting his face caved in bc me and a few of my friends tigerbaited 1 class (again, no profanities) then your smoking something. GTFO of here w/ that shite.

They guy who got assaulted was a whole different incident and I hope they catch those 3 idiots who did it, and that is not our state.

I stand corrected, but as I was told it was 2 students, with profanities, which means the rumor changed as it spread, go figure, but that is why most students were pissed by Friday night. That was all I meant.

And actually I offered beer and food to a couple who was getting harassed on Saturday. I heard that LSU fans took care of us down that way last year, and thought we could have done the same...like I said, a few bad apples..

Good to hear man, thanks for the hospitality. Everyone over 25 couldn't have been nicer. Most were very gracious, knowledgeable, & apologetic for the students. Just sad to see your university not provide proper security that might have deterred incidents like this (especially in a visitors lot).

We didn't mean to enrage your student students, just really excited about the game & wanted to have a lil fun.

this shite cracks me up. Please explain why you would boo one of our offensive players when he was on the ground. Please explain why Brockers is missing practice. And if a player is dinged and able to limp to sidelines, why should he hurt his own team and hobble off when he can stay on the ground and give his own team a chance to get his replacement ready. Why didn't you boo your offensive lineman when he "slowed you down" by hurting his leg.

Now that I heard it your way I think it's funny.

Where the incident happened was along a roadway about a mile or so from the stadium. If that is where it happened then the closest security/police would have been directing traffic. What I am really disappointed at is none of our other fans stopped it or stopped it sooner...it's sad to hear, especially in lieu of the Dodgers incident..

98% of WV fans went out of their way to make us welcome. A few students had the "clever" F you taunt, but most recanted when you engaged them with a "common on man, I'd expect that from a Pitt fan".
There were a couple of students that looked like they had rabies. Pretty scary "humans".
It was a great trip in a great college atmosphere. Not in SEC's best interest to offer membership.

Like I've already said, I had a great time....even with some WVU students. Ive never had so much hospitality from another team's fans even though they have a large segment of assholes too. I'm not going to let a couple dozen "f LSU" comments let me forget about the countless handshakes and free drinks me and my friends received. I had so much fun, I'm actually going to try to make it back up there for another game sometime.

Agreed. The problem with college football is that it's been NFL'd. College football attracts a young, boorish element of fans who aren't just not college material, they have no work ethic or common decency. This is true all over, not just West Virgina/Jersey

Very nice post. And written well.

Taunting vulgarity by students in all stadiums and on all campuses can be policed and should. The venue isn't a bunch of us sitting around watching the game at home or at a sports' bar. I don't hear volumes of vulgarity at either of the latter two venues because up close, people must respect one another.

Cowardly is the walk-by vulgarity on campuses and in the stadiums by male and female (apparently) punks pumped up by liquor and other punks. You think you are a tough guy? Go alone up to a tough guy bigger than you. But you don't do that because then you would no longer be a punk (a cowardly moron), just a moron.

I love to chat up the opposing fans to get their take on what their team's weaknesses are, and I tell them LSU's weaknesses (which are very few). Last year, I chatted up a WVU couple, and I was interested in hearing all about the weather in Morgantown.
