Is preserving Bama/UT the ONLY argument against MO?

Because they make the most sense to me. Add them, boot Auburn to the East. You keep the Auburn/Georgia and Auburn/Bama games. Line Georgia up with A&M, and Tennessee with Missouri. This makes sense geographically. And we add a good football, basketball, and academic school that adds a big market and is still very close to the Mississippi River. Is preserving UT/Bama really worth not considering them?

Gets my vote.

We're even playing like an SEC east team right now.

Just put UT in the same division as Bama.

Exactly.

East:

Bama
UT
UGA
Vandy
USC
UF
UK

West:

LSU
AU
aTm
MO
MSU
UM
Ark

BAMA/AU - permanent rival game
LSU/UF - perm. rival game

Missouri doesn't necessarily have to go West. If you look at the SEC East, with Kentucky and the Tennessee schools, it is as much a Northern division as it is an Eastern one. Missouri shares a border with both Kentucky and Tennessee. Just have Missouri play in the East, make Arkansas their permanent cross-over opponent, and A&M can take Arkansas's place as USC's cross over opponent.

I think the concern about Mizzou is their desire to go to the Big Ten...would they bolt the SEC if given the chance down the road? Probably so.

I think you are underestimating the rivalry and importance of UT/Bama to those to schools. It goes back a long way and really is a big game to both schools. I think both want to keep that game.

Then you lose the Georgia/Auburn game, which our esteemed leader has so eloquently reminded us, is the South's oldest rivalry.

I think the Big Ten makes more sense for MO myself. I am talking about the the SEC's interest. And if MO to the Big 10 is off the table. But I like the other guy's suggestion of just putting them in the East in this hypothetical.

DEEP South's oldest rivalry...I guess Virginia and North Carolina is the south's oldest rivalry by one game. If Georgia and Auburn ever meet in the SECCG, they would tie Virginia/North Carolina.

I am not estimating it at all. I asked if it was worth it. It may very well be. I don't know.

Move Auburn to the same division as UF and UGA, then you get back the UF-AU rivalry and preserve the AU-UGA game. Move UT to the "west" division and keep that rivalry game, and Auburn and Bama can play as the permanent cross-division rival.

BINGO!! Any reservations I had about Missouri would go out the window if they simply went to the SEC East and the SEC stayed at 14. Missouri gets Arkansas as its permanent cross division opponent so they keep a natural rival while Arky finally gets a meaningful rivalry for themselves.

BTW, you make a great point about the SEC East being as much a "Northern" division as an Eastern division. Missouri to the East wouldn't be that unreasonable when you study a map of the current SEC East. It would gaurantee the preservation of all the long time rivalries. Give up 1 non-conference game and replace it with a game against the new team in your division.

Yep, I'm on board too. Missouri to the East, stay at 14, be done with it.

If there's no other way to appease everyone, Bama and UT could just schedule each other every season that we aren't scheduled by the SEC. Count those games as OOC games with no bearing on the league standings.

No the biggest arguments are:

A)They are trash. What have they ever done athletically that is noteworthy?

B)They would screw us at the drop of a hat if the B1G came calling.

If you moved UT to the west they wouldn't get to play Georgia and Florida. I think that would be a deal breaker for them. Also Vandy and Kentucky.

They have a very good basketball tradition and good football tradition. And the SEC has Ole Miss, Vandy, Mississippi State, etc...

If the Big 10 was coming calling, wouldn't they do it now?
