Emailed them last week via an ad on sportsman. Legit but couldn't give me harvest estimates for the last few years.
This thread gave me what I was looking for, lol.
Who wants to dominate some public land next year with me?

Yeah, that's LJ's land. 71 Plantation. Second year hunting out there. Last year was horrible but this year we're bringin' in some good numbers. He rotated crops and last year our blind was on a rice field with a ton of regrowth. This year he planted soybeans there. Lot more open/visible water. He knows nothing about duck hunting and could manage it much better than he does, but he's real flexible with us as long we communicate with him. He doesn't mince words though. He's said his farming comes first, his crawfish come second and duck hunters come third. Take it for what it's worth. We're happy there for now.

What's good numbers to you?

Just over 200 this year. Two of us hunting. I can live with it. 212 to be exact.

Damn really surprised to see this thread pop up. Place was ok at best not terrible far from great. If memory serves me correctly we killed around 150-175 birds. For what we were paying it just wasn't worth it, plus we found a deer place to put our money in.

Well i paid more than that in rice world north of jennings. Have taken less than 50 birds.
Went in trying to find my dad a place easy for him to hunt with his disease. Am absolutely annoyed. If it werent for him i would stick to my public land holes where i can kill over 150 a year by myself.
Glad he got an elk an mule deer or i would be devasted at this point in the season

71 plantation, that is they place the OP is talking abou or is that the Lamar place?

public land 150/year yourself is pretty good. i hate to ask where, but where?
Posted on 1/15/14 at 7:36 am to jimjackandjose
Yea with them not harvesting the 2nd crop in that area and the rice in those fields it makes no sense that there are no birds.

About how many hunts? Quality of birds?

I too am looking at a blind on this property. For $5500 and numbers in the 200's, that would be a no go. Anyone else with recent numbers for this particular lease?

We looked into one last season, and when we went to look at it in late October, there wasn't a duck in the whole flooded 1000 acres of rice. The other side of the road was wrapped up (understandably because they later got busted for baiting.)

Seems like every lease I've been on the last few years falls into this catagory.
There is a reason the spots are available.

It seems like to me rice field blinds are very hit and miss south of Alexandria in LA. I've only had good blue wing shoots in fields down there and good goose hunts as it seems all the ducks are in the marsh. Anyone hunting down that way think it's because of all the pressure? Have lots of good field shoots in South Arkansas, north Louisiana, and North Texas but it seems totally different from hunting around I-10.
