I keep hearing Circus Circus has the best "value" on the strip, but I just can't picture a steakhouse there.

This will be for my birthday dinner before we see a show. So, looking for upscale, but doesn't have to be the best on the strip.

Ruth's Chris is always an option (so comparable in price/ambiance etc), but kinda hate to travel all that way and eat something I can do on Veterans or Fulton Street.

Craft Steak is solid, haven't been to all of them so can't really speak on which is best.

I like The Palm Steakhouse in Forum Shops

Prices are reasonable and if you eat lunch there its the best value I found on the strip. $22 or so for a 3 course meal for lunch.

Let me rephrase your question on Ruth's

Do you really want to travel all the way to Las Vegas to eat a steak which you could eat anywhere else in the world.

Try Bouchon or Fleur for a better meal, something less standard than a wedge salad, filet medium rare, au gratin potatoes and overpriced cabernet.

Strip Steak @ Mandalay Bay was quite good.

Look all I am saying is a steakhouse is a steakhouse the world around. Only Prime beef, seared to order in our 1200/1400/1800 degree broilers. Plus served in a clubby atmosphere with an extensive and expensive wine list. Sides are predictable as well.

Not saying a steakhouse cant be a great meal, but Id much rather spend the clams on a kitchen showing a little bit more skills than Salt and Pepper and Heat.

The steakhouse in Circus Circus was actually pretty good when I went years ago.

I've heard this. As well as Cut by Wolfgang Puck.

Which is somewhat surprising considering it's circus circus

If you gamble a decent amount there, they'll give you gift cards to the steakhouse. They gave my buddy 400 to use and all six of us ate well that night

I agree with you. I am not a steak eater as is, but I wouldn't be eating at a steakhouse in a city with so much food I can't get at home. But to each their own.

Of course, Vegas sort of lacks an intrinsic cuisine and all the food there is pretty much stuff you can get anywhere. So maybe not best example.

What's the ambiance of the place?

I have heard Stripsteak and Cut were good, but a bit overpriced.

Uh, you do realize I live in Baton Rouge right? Lots of well-known chefs have restaurants in Vegas. The restaurants I've been looking at have really interesting food that isn't found where I live.

Same reason I wouldn't drive to New Orleans for a steak.
