Ours the same, and our coach (who is now at BU) posted 50+ seasons after his first year.

A simple "congrats, LSU. You guys made a great hire" would be so easy, but you just can't help it. He's young and Alabama has been the class of the SEC the last 5-7 years. He will get 'over the hump' someday

If roles were reversed, no LSU fans would be saying "congrats". That's not how it works. When you support a program you don't want to see a successful coach leave, and certainly not leave for another program in the same conference.

Well at least you know you're being bitchy

Honestly, probably the only time we could rag your Saban hire was when you were warhawked. Otherwise we all knew what Alabama is getting in him

....you sure have posted a bunch of times on this thread to try to prove to LSU fans that Murphy is not a great coach and it doesn't hurt that LSU stole your softball coach.

Obviously it did.....caused you posted over and over and over again!

Word of advice, GET OVER IT!

Just like you had to get over Les Miles' schooling Nick Saban 24-21 last year in football!

Some guy who works for Tidesports says he doesn't have solid numbers but the salary will be over 200 but less 300. He also seems to indicate Bama matched the offer but Murphy still left.

I never said it didn't hurt. Alabama is as likely to fall back to the pack in softball, as they are to go out and hire another great coach. However, that doesn't change the fact that he blew his best chances thus far at winning a national title. Having a #1 and #2 national seed the last two years, and not getting to the title game is not meeting expectations.

That is one hell of a coup to snag both of them. Makes me wonder what Alleva promised them.

I support ALL LSU sports, as do others, and I have no problem with this hire, in fact, this was a home run...exceeds all expectations!!

"Classic!!"

So, hiring away a womens softball coach from Alabama is equal "Payback" for Saban leaving the Dolphins for Bama?

The Gumpers didn't exactly steal little Nicky directly away from LSU. Even if they had, I don't think S.E.C. womens softball and football are quite on the same level. "Payback" might be a valid word to use only if L.S.U. would ever bring Nick back. Then and only then.

Well, I being a Bama fan, I will say congrats on a good hire. He took our program the highest its been. They both have ties to LA as well which couldn't have hurt.

I agree that this is not payback for the Saban thing, but if it helps some feel better about it that so be it.

Can't wait to see what next year brings in the matchup!

Very arguable if UF is #2. They made it to the game and got killed. I'd argue there may be better teams(coaches) out there that didn't make it for whatever reason.

The paper this morning said his salary at LSU will be $200,000/year. He was making $140,000 at Alabama and the Gumps matched LSU's salary offer but Murphy said no thanks.

So, do you still think "this place is going to blow the frick up"????
