Has anyone heard if James Defeo will stay on staff with LSU?

Not if Habetz is coming.

So, hiring away a womens softball coach from Alabama is equal "Payback" for Saban leaving the Dolphins for Bama?

The Gumpers didn't exactly steal little Nicky directly away from LSU. Even if they had, I don't think S.E.C. womens softball and football are quite on the same level. "Payback" might be a valid word to use only if L.S.U. would ever bring Nick back. Then and only then.

Chill out dude, it's just good humour...and the fact that it involves Bama, all the more funny...

I'm excited to get both, still no one has mentioned why he would make a lateral move to come here ? Especially considering Bama was willing to match our deal . I know the facilities are top notch here now as LSU has really "invested" in the Softball team. I guess Skip and Alleva both understand that by investing like we are doing we won't lose AS MUCH money but I am still puzzled about the reason for the move from Coach Murphy's prospective..

either he had his mind set on leaving and taking on a new challenge or felt totally disrespected by the matching offer and wanted a counter offer.. time will prob tell

Very arguable if UF is #2. They made it to the game and got killed. I'd argue there may be better teams(coaches) out there that didn't make it for whatever reason

The other teams didn't make it because they were killed by UF during the championship appearance run. UF set new records all over the place during the latest run. ASU was just that good. UF's main pitcher was also injured. Made 2 of the last 3 title games, just can't get over the hump yet.

Murphy is a good hire. Surprised he would leave Bama, maybe it was just a good time after 13 years to part ways.

Murphy's got it! And we've just got it, as Joe & YG hit it right on the nose. What charisma and likeability he will bring to the program as he was very complimentary of his bama home for many yaars, and presented that in a CEO fashion. You gotta like that fellow.

Can't wait for small ball next year -both hard and soft while rooting from California. Maybe they can interest some left coasters as well.

Job well done Joe!

Thanks for accepting our offer, coach's Murphy and Habetz!!!

Just wondering if maybe 'behind closed doors' Bama was not too happy about the way the Gators tore them apart in the playoffs, and Murphy received some 'heat'. If so, Murpy may have gotten pissed, and said 'I don't need to take this shite'. With the way some Bama fans are calling him 'choke', makes you wonder...but at the same time, that would be dumb on their part, Gators were for real this year. But by the same arguement, haven't heard any problems at Florida, I think they know they ran into a buzzsaw called Arizona St.

Doubt it. SEC softball isn't SEC football there wasn't any way Bama was going to pressure him for not winning a title when no one in the conference has won a title.

Sour grapes, you won't find many of them who were saying that on Monday.

I think he may have felt a little unappreciated. Tim Walton at UF made over $250,000 back in 2009, Murphy was only at $140,000 and had a number of WCWS appearances.

Yea think Alleva caught Mal Moore slipping. Listening to the stuff Yvette and Murphy have said makes you think that YG maybe knew Murphy felt underappreciated at Bama for a while and tipped Alleva off about it.

Chill Out?

Sorry, I don't live in the world of professional message board geekdom nor am I versed in their secret and mysterious language. I certainly don't have any desire what so ever to dissect and/or interpret any particular post to correctly identify the hidden or alternative meaning of what any OP or responding Rantard is actually trying to say.

Call it what you want, everybody can agree that it's a "Good Thing" that we hired a softball coach with great credentials from a hated conference rival.

In the big scheme of things, LSU and all of its athletic teams are irrelevant.

Shut the frick up and quit making worthless posts.
