For athletics.

For Academics.

And just LSU in the geaux font wherever you want.

Good grief, we whine more about the logo than about Gary Crowton.

Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick, we whine more about people whining about logos than about people whining about Gary Crowton.

I agree. Nothing wrong with JUST "LSU" as the logo. Everyone here in the "sticks"of northcentral Pennsylvania knows what it stands for each day I wear one of my LSU caps. And I only live a short distance from PSU!!!! You want the test of time then keep it LSU!!
Can't wait for Oregon.

Nothing wrong w/ the Tiger face on the football helmet, sure beats the hell out of Toonces and that drugged-out apathetic looking Tiger that is currently on the logo.

New logo - 2 National Championships
Old logo - 1

Can't deny the power of Toonces.

The Toonces where he was the Terminator was one of my favorite SNL skits from my childhood. I like the Toonces logo, but I think a red Terminator eye would be sweet.

Like the one on the helmet? Believe it or not people like toonces (not me) and as a marketing perspective it's smart to cover all walks of life. You ever see a affliction type lsu hat and wonder "who the hell would buy this?" They do...

LSU should just stick with L.S.U. in the Geaux font as its main logo. No one can look at it and be confused as to what it is. It is what UCLA, Oklahoma, TCU and other other schools have done...

LSU is scatter-branded...It is as if the neice marketing major of the Chancellor gets to select the branding philosophy each and every time we get a new chancellor.

Such an opportunity lost. LSU could be such a stand-out brand, but flips flops on a dime to loose out on this opportunity.

6 National Championships. No need for a mascot, this is all LSU needs.

That's usually the case. In LSU's case, it's hard to automatically make that case because the logo was changed in 2002 (as I recall) and LSU had just won the SEC for the first time in over a decade, and would win the NC the next year. Put another way, despite the fact that a great many tiger fans bitched about the logo from day one (I actually bitched about it from day -2 as I had gotten it e-mailed to me before the release) people bought tons of LSU products because the program was winning big time.

You took the words right out of my mouth, except that I wouldn't even try to "automatically make that case" because of the success of LSU in football since 2001--the kind of success never seen in one decade in LSU's history--2 national championships and 3 SEC titles. That doesn't factor the Final Four in basketball or the most recent baseball championship. Every year there are about 4 or 5 lengthy threads about the logo (that's not to say there are only 4 or 5 threads created, just that some take off--usually during dead periods in the major LSU sports--and go for 5+ pages). One such thread from a couple of years ago featured a comment from a person who said he had spoken to one of the higher-ups at LSU about the shittiness of our current logo and the higher-up responded with "Really, well we've experienced record merchandise revenue with the current logo." To which the poster responded that he estimated that the record sales were because of the unprecedented success of LSU football (and even basketball, to an extent) during the time period from which the new logo was introduced. Apparently the higher-up looked at him with a blank stare.

We should have one based off of the tiger statues. They're badass looking enough, just add some color to it and they'll be sick.

Someone made something like this on here but I don't know the first place to look.

In case you guys didn't know, this is the design firm responsible for LSU's "new" logo. If you flip through some of what they've done, you'll see that SOME of it's ok, but in my opinion most of it sucks. If you want to assign blame for what we have, it rests solely with whoever at LSU signed off on the crap Phoenix presented to them.

I agree with you man. I don't like any of those images.
