This is a topic that me and my buddies have always talked about while killing time at the camp. What you the rest of yall think the best parish in Louisiana is for the average sportsman? I think Union Parish takes is the best. It has several areas for public hunting and fishing. Most of the property leased out isn't going to kill your pocket book either.

I agree with Hat. Possibly Terrebonne since they have a hooters, but we have the crossing bar with full nudity.

Rapides

Just not enough diversity in the southern parishes.

Rapides you have freshwater fishing, all kinds of hunting from every type of landscape, from hardwood bottoms, river bottoms, piney woods, hills, farmland, etc.

You always have a huge tract of public land in Kisatchie National Forest, which has the longest trail system in the state for backpacking, hiking, mountain bike riding, etc.

Then you also have that it is located in the center of the state. So you have access to the parishes in the south with their inshore and offshore fishing.

And you have have access to Toledo Bend, Red Dirt Reserve, and the hardwoods of the northern parishes.

Terrebonne, of course I am biased in that decision cause I grew up in terrebonne parish, but they had just about everything you wanted to hunt(except for turkeys) and fish, one of my best trips in the woods was about 12 years ago I went with my 12 gauge and of course I carried both bird shot and buck shot, but I ended up shooting a doe, an eighty pound hog, a few squirrels and rabbits, a coon, and 2 wood ducks, in one day of hunting, so its kinda hard to beat that.

Saltwater & freshwater fishing? All types of hunting except turkey. Parishes w/o this shouldn't even be considered.

I quoted the above because I feel like you need to take into account having to live in tha Parish. Living here is pretty cool by me.

Not enough of a diverse landscape. And longer access to what north LA has to offer.

Just stating facts.

Overall hunting and fishing, Tensas, Madison, or Concordia. Probably with Tensas on top.

Huge deer, world class duck hunting, great fishing and recreational lakes. Also, doves, rabbit, squirrel, turkeys, pigs, gators, and whatever else you want to shoot.
