Cabela's Just Blew Me Away

I bought a Springfield XD Subcompact 9mm last Friday at Cabelas. I filled out the online survey yesterday and gave them overall excellent reviews but I noted on the comment section that I really wanted a 40 cal but they were out of stock so I got the 9. No big deal.

Guy from the store just called and said he read my survey and said that they have the 40 back in stock. Told me if I wanted, I can bring back the 9 and switch it for no charge.

This may not be a big deal to most people, but I am blown away by the customer service, especially from a chain store. They have def. earned more of my business.

That is pretty cool. That wouldnt happen at Academy that's for sure. Everythign I have bought at Academy I got a speech about "make sure it's ok cause that gun leaves with you it isnt coming back".

Why can't Memphis get one?

The options for outdoor shops here sucks.

We have a Bass Pro, but it's an Sportsman Warehouse and not an Outdoor World.

It's ok but not what you would expect in Memphis.

and now they have to sell the 9mm as a used, they will loose money, someone will get a great deal, but think of all the great publicity they get. a class act. What you think the chances of Jims doing something similar?

I worked at the Cabela's guncounter for a year.

They must have employed new people because this never happened when I worked there. I am surprised they are doing this, but glad to see them stepping up

I worked there for awhile too. The hunting manager and the guy in charge of the gun counter were pretty bad. I heard they hired some better guys since then.

Customer service was preached there though. I guess they put their money where their mouth is.

This obviously came down from the corporate office. So maybe they are making it a point to get the stores to do a better job. FYI, the shopping experience was really good. The guy I bought it from was real helpful.

Yeah, they had some really knowledgeable people there surrounded by some jackasses.

One guy there got arrested for child porn while I worked there.

It was fun job but I quit when I graduated.
