mashed,
I would not mash them. Reds are a waxy potato and IMO are not really good mashed.

roasted,
This is a good option. I would cut them in half and coat in extra-virgin olive oil. Season with salt and pepper. Chop some garlic and fresh thyme and roast them at 425 for around 40 to 45 minutes.

Smothered.
Peel them or don't. Cube them.
In a tall skillet.
Melt a couple tablespoons of butter or heat the same amount of oil.
Saute' 1/2 small yellow onion until clear.
Add potatoes and enough water to almost cover them. Salt pepper to taste. Cover and simmer about 20 minutes.

Quarter them up, toss with olive oil, salt, pepper and rosemary. Roast them in the oven until done.

Cut open, boil with a tad of crab boil or seasoning. Once done, drain and add sone butter and stir it around. So yumm and easy.

cut slices in them, going almost to the bottom, but not all the way through. make the slices every 1/8 of an inch, and pull it apart so that it fans out. drizzle with olive oil, kosher salt and pepper (make sure you get in between the slices) bake at 425.
see link for a pic of how to slice and fan.

Boiled and then crushed them. Topped with olive oil, dried basil leaves, salt, pepper, and shredded gouda cheese. Baked them off in the oven

In black pot throw some bacon pieces and a link of sliced smoked sausage. Once you have a little grease throw in some chopped onions. Saute until onions or translucent. Sprinkle some Tony's and toss in taters quartered with skin on. Cover and simmer stirring occasionally and adding water if needed.
