2011 1 Loss LSU vs 2 undefeated BCS teams

with the brutal schedule, could LSU still go over a team from perhaps the ACC, Big East, or mid-major that goes undefeated (not that that has happened in forever)? I don't think we could jump an undefeated pac10, big 12, or big 10 team, but who knows.
Any thoughts?

Maybe a Big east team but I don't see a big east team going undefeated. Not an ACC team especially since they have a conference championship game.

ACC or Big East...........no. I have doubts, with the momentum building for the TCU's and Boise's of the world, if a 1 loss LSU would move ahead in the human polls (depending on when the loss occures). But, I still think we edge out in the computers enough for it not to be a problem.

If the undefeateds are from a BCS conference I would expect them and not a one loss LSU team to play for the NC. But like you said, who knows

its impossible to say without seeing the data

it's possible but the loss would have to come against a quality opponent. the best case for us would be to lose to florida then beat them in the SEC championship game.

2 undefeated BCS teams will go.
not 1 loss SEC champ. LSU, Bama, it doesnt matter.
IMO being undefeated is worth more to human voters than
Strength of schedule is to the computers in the BCS formula.
I do wish there were an 8 team playoff. Because if LSU/Bama puts LSU/Bama's only loss on them, and TCU and Boise are in the champ game, I would feel like LSU/Bama(SECw champ with 1 loss) were still the better team, even with one loss.

It REALLY depends on the circumstances and how the season plays out. If LSU thoroughly beats Oregon but slips up on the road against WVU in OT then wins out in the SEC to finish 12-1 and then at the end of the year Oregon and WVU are each 10+ win teams, I think there's a chance that after 5 straight SEC NC's we get some help. But it depends on who the 2 undefeated's are and their schedule for LSU to have a chance

No way an ACC team...FL state is favored to win the acc next year, they will be preseason top 10 probably this year. If they went undefeated it would mean they would have had to put down OU who will probably be ranked #1 preseason.
Big east...If TCU does go undefeated and dont make it there will be alot of controversy if they dont go over a 1 loss big conference team.

I'd say doubtful concerning any BCS conference but likely over a mid-major. I'd say it's even more doubtful that any Big-East, or ACC school goes undefeated next year.

As others have pointed out, we don't have all the data.
But there is certainly a possibility that a 1-loss SEC champion could go to the BCSCG over an undefeated BigEast/ACC champ or an undefeated non-BCS team. Actually, IMO a 1-loss SEC Champion would in fact go over an undefeated TCU or Boise, but it's hard to know if it would go over an undefeated BigEast/ACC champ.

There is no way, look at a 5 loss uconn team...they made it to a bcs game so anything is possible. TCU is in the big east now and they did that for that situation wouldnt happen.....ACC theres not a chance in hell if FL st for example went undefeated they would not be in the NC over a 1 loss sec team...
ACC although a weaker conference right now its still not the wac, big east, conference usa, etc....with Miami, Vteck, fl state, clemson, ga tech... i havent looked at any other schedules besides miami or fl state but if one of them went undefeated they would be over a 1 loss sec team...especialy fl st who will probably be preseason 8....them going undefeated would have meant they would have beaten Miami, OU, Florida, etc

Oh yeah it is 2012...I was mixing them up with boise st...well if a Big east team went undefeated it would have to be a team like WVU with a win against a big time team like us

quote:Depends on how at the end of the year how brutal that schedule is.... Look at this year, many predicted the schedule would be the down fall of LSU. However then North Carolina/West Virginia were not as good as anticipated, Florida was worse than anticipated. Auburn was better than we all believed, and State was a better team at the end of the year.
with the brutal schedule,
If the teams play up to their talent level and how we expect them to perform it would be the most difficult schedule in Nation. If teams fall flat and don't meet expectations then it will be one that looks more daunting on paper than in reality.

BCS will let a 2 loss team jump from 4th to 2nd, then anything can happen.

the # of loses was not relevant, it was that the teams above lost the last week and or did not win their conference.
a 1 loss SEC C could get to the BCS CG over an undefeated Big East team and Non AQ. Over some ACC teams, but not FSU, Miami or VT and not over a B1G, Big xii - ii, or Pac 12 team.

Too many different sinarios to even guess really.

So many things play into that it's impossible to say. Depends on who are loss is to and how we look otherwise.

Agree with this assuming LSU's loss comes in conference. LSU could be able to knock out most Big East teams. WVU generally has enough rep and tough schedule to hold their own...but of course LSU beats them. All other Big East teams...meh.
But outside of that it would be really hard. ACC, Big10, and Pac10 all have conference championships which make it hard. But the ACC is such crap that it is possible (it would have to be one with a weak schedule that doesn't play the SEC OOC).
A weak Big 12 team like Kansas, Iowa State, Baylor might have have a tough time fighting off 1-loss LSU though in the absence of a Big12CG
