God only knows at this point... Since there's nothing I can do about the conference crap, I'm just looking forward to the upcoming season. Of course, there's a problem with that too, since we now have to move the Miss State or Ole Miss game to have another home game now that Boise has bailed out of the schedule... OH well, whatever will be, will be, right??

Rcok Chalk Your posting makes too much sense. It's perfect. But somebody will throow a curve like Temple playing theOhio schools int eh MAC and NJIT in the Great West. Stony Brook Long Island in the Big South. Somebody in the South east or New England will join the WAC. Too stupid for words sometimes.

Thing is, though, UTEP doesn't want to leave CUSA.

Tech would go broke if we went indy in football. SBC is only logical. The fan base needs to suck it up and deal with it. Tech will have more success, save more money, and get better attendance if they are in the Sun Belt. C-USA does not want us, deal with it.

Good LAWD! Nothing has happened yet. How about this angle: "Tech is stuck in the new WAC, and the conference name is being changed to WTF. Fans will just have to suck it up." THIS is more likely than Tech joining the Sun Belt, because I seriously don't see our boosters ever going for it. The new WAC sucks, but if it ends up that way, at least I can catch a Tech game when I'm in San Antonio... Regardless what happens, GO DAWGS!!!

(Personally, I still say we'll end up in C-USA if I have to make a prediction, but who knows?)

WAC commish Karl Benson is headed to Arizona to talk with the University of Phoenix about a potential WAC membership. He was apparently impressed with their football stadium and wants the Phoenix market. But word is UofP will turn down the offer.

Eastern Washington? Idaho State? North dakota State? Temple? Rutgers? ULL? How far fetched will this go?

WAC show some balls and take a HBCU

No one wants to join this dying conference Jeaux. And Klark, their fans will always think CUSA no matter what.

ULL isn't going to the WAC. Period.

LA Tech going Independent in football and playing other sports in the Southland would hurt their athletic program more than they realize.

As far as a C-USA invite......don't hold your breath. C-USA is interested in media markets. What does LA Tech have to offer?

exactly.

and to the poster who said it's about media market, that's dead on. CUSA wants to expand their media market. there's nothing up there in North LA/South Arkansas as far as a market goes. Complete waste of time for CUSA.

Klark Kent and Henderson are right. Conf USA wants some media markets. Temple? Buffalo from the MAC? If Central Fla leaves for the big Eaast thats a hit.

Seriously, though, IF an HBCU who is currently in the FCS were to jump, who would it be and where to?

So what is happening to the Southland Conference now that a couple of their schools are headed to the WAC?

How about Howard? Or FAMU? Or (and here's a non-HBCU) Georgia State?

Not what I've heard. I was talking to their golf team here a few months ago and they were sick of the travel to Marshall, East Carolina and UCF. Mountain West makes much more sense geographically, gives them pretty much a guaranteed BCS slot (MUCH closer to auto-bid status than C-USA), or at least BCS revenue, with Boise going every year (no C-USA team has ever played in a BCS bowl) and lets them reestablish a rivalry with New Mexico.

If the Houston/SMU package falls through (with the four front-range schools), I think UTEP & SJSU/USU is next on the list.
