per Daily Report:

Calendar's closing Coursey location

Calendar's Café, a longtime Baton Rouge casual dining chain, will shut down its last location on Jan. 28. The Coursey Boulevard restaurant will close about a year after the Calendar's on Perkins shut down. A manager says about 25 employees worked at the Calendar's on Coursey.

Haven't been there in years myself. Just never found it to be a destination restaurant of choice.

I remember when the one by campus would be so packed it had to have bouncers working the door. The one on Perkins used to be an awesome place for the after hours service industry crowd...spent many a night in there til 2:00 am and beyond.

Only been to Calendar's 3 times in my life. If that. Maybe even 2. Once at Perkins and once at Coursey.

I don't really remember the food too much, but I remember not liking that a local restaurant with so many options decided to model after Applebee's. That place was literally Applebee's clone. The food might have been better .. I don't remember.

What happened with the one on Highland?

Seems like a damn good location for an established business.

when I was at LSU (early 90's), we went to the one by campus a lot...didn't they have some big arse drink called the fish bowl or some such that all the women shared?

Calendars was here long before Applebees. Doesn't change the fact that they have the same menu. Chicken/Egg. Just sayin.

Applebee's was around.. just not here in BR. But I see what you're saying. It's unlikely they copied Applebee's since it opened in some other state just 5 years before the first Calendar's did here.

Was the food at Calendar's good? I went so long ago that I can't remember. I just remember feeling like I was in Applebee's

Plantation salad, grilled chicken pasta salad, pasta jambalaya, chicken fingers and club sandwich.

And they had a decent burger.

They will be missed by the Cover family.

Gonna miss this place. The food wasn't bad and the live music during the week, combined with the touchdowns, made school tolerable.

Thats the only thing I remember about Calendar's. I got this the couple times I went.
I just looked at the website and it's a pretty average salad

I'm probably part of the reason it's closing. I've been driving past that place for a decade, and have never eaten there. But anyone who knows me knows that I don't choose to eat at a corporate chain. Not saying all corporate food is poor, but it's a personal decision on my part as to how I allocate my money.
