Miles would be the first to admit LSU should play for championships every year, but if the Tigers come up short of that goal, he would like to see the administration stand behind him, instead of giving him a luke warm grade.

quote:

Wow. It seems Miles wants a "Im gonna put in in cruise control" clause in is contract.

quote:

Seriously maybe Les just needs to go then, 8 win seasons shouldn't be acceptable here, and 9 win seasons these days when you play 13 is mediocre

quote:

So he wants to be assured that if he doesn't do his job properly, he wont get fired?

quote:

uhhhhh, frick that. get out of here, les.

quote:

Hmmmm.....um, no thanks Les, we won't settle for mediocrity.

I love this board.

Because we have intelligent fans who look past records and see how the games were coached/managed. And several of them were done so in a terrible fashion.

My only prayer is that all of the idiots that a screaming about an 8 win season- have bosses like Alleva. When you have a slump in sales or production that your boss (and I use that term lightly) publicly criticizes you - 2 years after winning a NC. That is a douche move. I hope you get judged as ruthlessly as you give it out!

He just wants the same treatment as Urban Meyer, Saban, Carroll, Stoops and all the other top coaches that occasionally fall on a rough season. Yes it makes me nervous, but its really not an unreasonable quest.
Well said!

That's what he may have meant. But this really is essentially a mediocrity clause in the contract. I don't care if you're writing a contract for Miles or for a janitor, I am fundamentally opposed to that kind of entitlement mentality.

so you would've fired Brown and Meyer after this season....that's basically what he's asking for.

Nah, we should never have 8 win seasons.

Neither should Florida, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma or USC.

I'd say Ohio St., but if LSU were in the Big 10, they'd be in BCS bowl games every year as well.

If he needs a warm fuzzy feeling every day from the administration and fanbase, he needs to man up and accept the fact this is the career he's chosen....and is paid handsomely for it

The "6-0" bit was the subject of national news every week. Remember the "lsu is trying to get over another win" bit on espn and multiple commentaries about never seeing anything like this

And do you remember how much the national media ridiculed LSU and Miles for the Tennessee game?

Who cares about the media's opinion or what they report. They just try to stir shite up. Our fans know more about LSU football than they do.

Agreed. Hopefully all these haters will work for bosses that are as demanding and as critical as they are.

Quote from the article for all the morons that keep saying the financial state of the university has no bearing on the ability to pay large amounts to buy out the coach.

Only because of "perception"......

It's also a clue that LSU isn't gonna pay for a superstar

They are doing just that now......

Off seasons happen. Look at the history of all of the great legends. One 8 win season will happen, a back to back 8 win season should not happen but job performance needs to be evaluated, a 3 in a row 8 win season should be grounds for dismissal.

I think it is reasonable request.

fricking this, especially when it seems every year another SEC team will have 12-13

Did he really get this butthurt over Alleva's letter? Jesus Christ

I wouldn't be surprised if he left for a worse situation at Michigan.

At times, I have had that same thought, but then I realize Michigan is very similar. They wanted Rich Rod out very quickly.

and that career can end rather abruptly when you have unrealistic expectations placed upon you.

thats the way it sounds, just wants us to want him as much as he wants to be here. If there is not that mutual respect then he's out
