On a micro level you're dealing with 18 year olds and there's just no telling how they're going to base their decisions.
I was just reading about a recruit considering TCU because his favorite color is purple. Oh kids.

quite welcome, I'm sure. Most LSU fans would be delighted.
My guess is that non-LSU and non-ARK
SEC teams would applaud it because they would have an excuse to go to Texas and recruit.
LSU and ARK border Tex and already do.
The money boys would love it, adding Tex TV stations to the SEC.
Stay tuned. If Aubie bites the SMU death penalty next year, you can replace Aubie in the SEC west.
You will get to play
LSU
Alabama
Ark
Ole Miss
Miss State
and 3 from the SEC east, randomly.
You can keep Tex on your schedule for old time's sake.

Otto,
You bring up a damn fine point. The obvious downside of such a move would give us an SEC West schedule PLUS an annual OOC with texas. That would likely be the toughest schedule in the country most years. We're certainly not ready for that right now. But I'd be willing to take the lumps to get there, given the opportunity.

Really wish A&M would have joined.

I don't see why we need A&M in the SEC.

Favorite color ... Nike/Adidas school ... his favorite Uncle's insight ...
Like just about anything else in the world things get so involved there's no telling what the determining factors are. I still like the idea of differentiation from t-sips though.

I joined Texags because I didn't think it was a true reflection of our fans. As time has gone on I've come to the realization that you can't take much of what's said on there seriously because 75% of the people on there are being smartasses and don't actually believe what they're saying.

You don't. And A&M doesn't need the SEC. But the SEC would stand to make even more $$$ in TV contracts by adding TX TV markets, and the Ags would stand to make more $$$ as well.
Aside from money, the football competition would be fun and the traditions and culture of A&M belong in a conference that celebrate those sorts of things. SEC appears to be tradition-rich so I like the idea on that front.

SEC should take TAMU in order to keep them away from another conference and away from the dominance of UT. Its like rescuing somebody from a bully. And if TAMU gets strong enough to win the SEC West then its good for all. You are only as strong as your conference.

It would have made Houston more of an SEC place...
I like this and the idea of it becoming a UT-OU type rivalry. Maybe its not always a home and home deal and we play that dog in Reliant Stadium...call it the "Sabine River Rivalry"....

The SEC should of been smart about the whole thing by adding a few schools. Revenue would of been off the charts, and the SEC would be DOMINANT in just about everything for decades. Not to mention, the SEC would increase their academic reputation. I'd say the SEC drops A&M and does this instead:
Add:
UNC
Virginia Tech
Georgia Tech
Florida State
Clemson
Remove: Miss. State
Change East and West divisions to North and South.
SEC North:
Clemson
Arkansas
Kentucky
North Carolina
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
Virginia Tech
SEC South:
Auburn
FSU
Georgia Tech
LSU
Alabama
UF
UGA
Ole Miss

you do realize MSU probably would have beaten every ACC team you just mentioned this year?

LSU does not play a SEC east member at random. The SEC cross division play is rotational. Texas should never be allowed in the SEC, because every conference they belonged to, failed. Like a previous poster stated, FSU had their chance and declined because Bowden did not want to play Auburn and Bama in the same season. Ga. Tech was a member, and left. If you kids want Ga. Tech, then why not Tulane? What is the difference between the two?

Georgia Tech was a charter member of the SEC, but quit. Florida State had their chance several years ago, but Bobby Bowden was afraid of the competition. There is no way that I want either of those wuss schools anywhere near the SEC other than as our bitches in bowl games.
Did you ever stop to consider that the only teams you mentioned that would bring anything to the SEC are UNC and VT? Clemson, FSU and Georgia Tech would be welfare cases.

AND, they beat most SEC teams.

The dynamics have drastically changed since conference realignment talk this summer. The t.u. fanbase was the one crying "what about our rivalry?" while the A&M fanbase sent a clear message to our administration that we are a lot more excited about playing in the SEC where pretty much every game is against a big time program. I work in the Texas Legislature and I can tell you that there was a great deal of pressure being applied by the Baylor and Tech crowd to keep it together. Texas was with them because they served their purpose of dragging us all to the PAC-10. While A&M may have appeared to be following t.u., that is absolutely not the case. If so, we would have just followed them to the PAC-10 as they wanted. Staying in the Big 12 essentially bought more time to make a more informed decision instead of just reacting. Our administration is absolutely aware that 90% of our alumni want to go to the SEC. We know we'd get killed for a good many years, but it would energize our program in an immeasurable way.
A&M would be a much better fit for the SEC. Your schools actually have traditions. Some of you may make fun of ours, but go check out the other Big 12 schools. Zero culture whatsoever. No atmosphere. The tailgating is either 100% lame and/or 100% corporate sponsored (t.u.). Fans are ridiculously hot and cold. SEC fans seem to stick with their schools through thick and thin as do we. The other Big 12 schools (aside from Nebraska--RIP) see loyalty as a negative.
In response to a couple of things:
1) Before you rag on our Yell Leaders too much, please remember that you all have male cheerleaders that are doing very cheerleader-like things. Yell Leaders are student leaders that lead yells. Its like having 5 student body president-type guys out there. We do have a dance team that you will like.
2) Don't judge us by TexAgs. Unless you paid to be on there, you are in the Zoo area with a TON of trolls who have decided to raid your site as well when they aren't over there. The paid boards are where you will find the typical Aggie fans. Most of whom are pretty horrified at the behavior of the Zoo. Aside from some extraordinary game-day trash talk that we will need to get used to, we look forward to dealing with fanbases that are more objective.
Sorry for the long post.
