In his previous searches, Foley said it was a prerequisite that the new coach have head coaching experience. He said that will not necessarily be the case in this search.

Hmm...

Why is everyone so afraid of Malzhan? He had a good QB this year, what happens if that is not available?

If Cowherd really knows, the new coach is not Malzahn, because he said it was a big name.

Riiiiiight, this is the 2nd time he has made head coaches look good in the SEC.

So you're acknowledging that Auburn might be in trouble without Malzahn...like Nutt.

I agree. I think Auburn's success this year is primarily due to the freak that is Newton. Sure Malzhan has done a good job taking full advantage of that talent but I really don't think he's done anything to prove that his run of success this year will translate into big time head coach material.

Last year?

LSU 31
Auburn 10

This year with Newton? Totally different story.

Without Newton, his offense wouldnt have won over 7 to 8 games this year.

Newton could play for Tulane and they would run thru the SEC undefeated like Auburn did this year.
