Lot of ignorant people in this thread, hendo. Of all Louisiana schools besides LSU,ULis the one that's in the best position to become a solid D1 program

what the hell is UL? I know Tulane has the rights to that name. Saying that the directional school is UL implies that they something they aren't.

FTR- besides LSU, Tech is closer to becoming a solid D1 program. If I were ULL/USL I'd worry about McNeese taking my "recruits"

HH,

Have you heard of any rumblings from ULM regarding ULL's slowly staking a claim to the name UL? I don't live in Monroe anymore and don't give a crap about ULM but I hear some anger from people associated with the issue. Apparently, when the deal was struck to allow ULM and ULL to take their current names an agreement was made precluding either school from calling itself UL. What I hear from some Monroe people is that ULL has been slowly moving toward the name in slow stages.

I read a story about how their school newspaper referred to us as UL once that made me laugh. I think the law is that you can't use UL on an official university release. It doesn't go for athletics.

Actually, I would rather say UL than ULL. Don't you think saying ULL feels a little awkward rolling out your mouth? haha.. I could care less really. Let them call themself whatever they want.

Do you think any interest would be drawn from either side of these coaches for the head job?

What about any interest from either side on these coaches?

Jim Leavitt-Recently appiled at North Texas
Dennis Franchione- Recently applies at North Texas
Jeff Bower- Former Southern Miss Coach
Brent Venables-DC Oklahoma
Phillip Fulmer-Former Tennesse Coach

bullshite

Ruston is a complete shithole with Tech's conference falling apart around it. Lafayette is a much better city for a 18-21 year old plus the talent pool in south LA is pretty deep. furthermore, any recruit picking a D2 school over a D1 is a moron and i really don't know of too many who have done that.

agreed Ruston sucks arse/Laffy is much better. Are you saying that McNeese doesn't have a stronger program than ULL? you're smoking crack. If the D1 program sucks arse and the D2 program is good than yeah, the players (who are fringe D1 players anyway) would smartly go to better program. There are TONS of shitty D1 programs and ULL is near the top of that list.

Burton Burns is supposedly the 5th.

I would hate to see him go. He has done an amazing job with the RBs at Alabama.

Our loss if he goes

if they sign crowton, there undoubtedly be thousands of recruits standing in line to be offered a scholarship to ull . his track record speaks for itself. i bet the rest of the coaches in the conference are terrified of having to go up against crowtons offense game after game

How could you even think that? La Tech
is the most accurate example you can measure by. There is nothing in Ruston and look what he did there. He would atleast do that and maybe more with ULL. Stop hatin on the man. You may not like him as a fit at LSU but he would be a great fit at UL. I really could care less but if he gets it then more power to him.

Thats just about it. They should never fire a coach unless you have a better one to replace.

There is a bunch of things that go into hiring a coach. Many questions that have to answered on filling a staff. A head coach will make calls to fill a staff before the interview. Many schools give you X amount of $'s to fill a staff. A small school like ULaff sometimes will have a former GA as a position coach, just to spend the extra on a OC or DC.

ULL

LSU, Tulane and Tech should be the only FBS schools in LA

Best thing about ULL - they are not ULM

What is it looking like right now Henderson?? I heard some stuff on Stevey P's show earlier this morning, but didn't catch much. He was talking about somebody else throwing their name into the hat. Who does it look like wants the job?? And who is rumored as ULL's #1 guy?
