We've all been watching it for some time now.

Anyone that's says the fraternities are the ones who start all of this is fricking stupid. Most of the chants are started by non-Greeks. If it was just the Greeks saying this you wouldn't hear it outside of the student section. Your blind hatred of Greeks is showing.

FYI. A buddy of mine in Tiger Band just said it wasn't banned, simply a rumor. Take it for what you will.

The student section is probably a more important part of the crowd now than when I was in school. They are easily the loudest part of the stadium and can have an effect on the other team. The whole stadium was loud back then, now, not so much.
That said, what does adding the stuff to songs do for anyone. Nothing. If that is what it takes for them to have a good time at football game I feel sorry for them. We had a hell of a time in my day and booze was a cinch to get in with.
I loved my days in the student section and the present students should also. I just have to wonder why they want to make such a big deal out of shouting vulgar lyrics. I wonder how UT would react if it's students decided they needed to change the words to Rocky Top.

Do you hear Florida changing the gator bait cheer to masturbate? That's what this is like.

i heard today from some friends in tiger band that the Athletic Department has banned Neck..
BFD, the obsession with this overplayed song is ridiculous. You are all losers

and on the 1st down cheer they say "kick their arse" instead of "LSU" what does banning a song really change anything? The student section will just find another way to be vulgar during a game- and it prolly won't be drowned out by music next time.

just a matter of time.
Even though I hate the song, I do enjoy seeing fat old drunk people bobbing their fat arms to some neck.
That alone is almost worth price of admission.

What's being said during Neck isn't even in the same stratosphere.

Move the student section to the upper deck
Bad idea. How long would it take before somebody dies from blunt force trauma to the head after we score and someone lobs a 44oz cup of Coke + Southern Comfort?

Back in the 80's when I was an undergrad, the fraternities helped police the cursing to some extent. The underclassmen learned pretty quickly that cursing in front of the upperclassmen's dates and girlfriends wasn't cool and wouldn't be tolerated. Sure, you could still get excessively drunk and fall down, but you weren't hurting anyone but yourself.
I wouldn't dream of saying the Neck chant in front of any woman, whether she was a stranger or a woman I knew. You're showing your disrespect for the woman, but that doesn't seem to bother the women now, either.
I'm not sure what changed over the years, but change it has. It doesn't matter what group of students you put in that section, in my opinion. Maybe it's the older drinking age so the younger students haven't had a chance to learn the proper way to be a southern drunken gentleman yet, or maybe it's the easy availability of brutally offensive material on the Internet (sorry, no links or pics) that has desensitized the younger generation.
The administration was upset about the laughing at the end of Tiger Rag and that was one of the reasons cited for its banning. The a-holes part made it a quicker and permanent ban.

I'm all for pulling the frat seats and making them all general admission student seats. That's a damn good idea if in fact they are the ones starting this shite.
complete BS. its all those damn shitty looking GDIs on the front row that start these things. I was in the greek section last game and didnt hear a single person say this to neck. it was all on the GDI section...yet again. just like ooo-eee-ooo and the damn wave. youve got it backwards

Alumni should just accept the fact that times have changed. Back in their day when they went to school cursing was non-existant. Now a days there is cursing everywhere tv music etc.. And they should except the fact that maybe parents raise their kids different ways. Maybe some parents don't get as upset as others when their kids curse. I know mine don't. But maybe that's cause I'm not from around here. All in all they are just words.

And what do you suggest they do to make an example of students? Just curious.
