Of the Main 3 sports (Football, Basketball, Baseball) which one requires the most athletic ability to be able to do it well?
Had a huge debate with a buddy Saturday night about this.

Basketball.
Football -- a bit of a technicality, but you can be a superstar kicker without ever having to run.
Baseball is athletically on par with bowling.

Baseball is athletically on par with bowling.

WHAT!?!? You are saying they are even, are you kidding?
Baseball is the HARDEST sport to play!

So hard to answer the question because different positions in the different sports require different skill sets.
Overall I'd say basketball, but my perception of an athlete might be different than others.

Taking the most physically demanding position in each sport, it's hard to choose between a PF in basketball and an offensive lineman in football.

Hockey...it is hard as shite to ice skate!

I'll say baseball. There is more hand-eye coordination in baseball per individual player. Each person has to catch, throw, and then bat/run.
In football, only the WRs catch. QB throws. Kickers kick (though I guess a punter catches and kicks). Etc.
Basketball is second I'd think. Dribble, pass, catch, shoot.
I think basketball and baseball players are the most well-rounded "athletes" there are.

There is hand-eye coordination in juggling too.

And video games as well.
I don't follow your point.

Pretty much any CF in the game is a solid athlete.
And sprinting a full trip around the bases would be like sprinting a 120 yard football field.
I'm not saying baseball doesn't have the least athletic people of the big 3, but it also has some gifted athletes as well.

Just wondering why that is your primary criterion for athleticism.

Basketball without a doubt. They have the best athletes in the world by a mile.

It's not. If the parameters are the three major sports, then obviously all are good athletes. So I just went with that to differentiate for the sake of actually picking one.

athletics are running, jumping, throwing, and vision. shooting guards and small forwards are the most athletic people on the planet

There is a difference between skill and athletic ability. Baseball requires a lot of skill and little athletic ability. When guys like CC Sabathia and Prince Fielder can be all stars in a sport, it does not require a lot of athletic ability.
It's close between football and basketball, but I would have to go with basketball.

basketball in terms of pure athletic ability, baseball in terms of overall skill

Especially in todays game, its basketball for pure athletics. Thats why so many draft picks pan out in basketball versus any other sport. More times than not a player can rely on their athletic skill to succeed.

i would have to say that whichever sport involves more training in that specific sport (not running or lifting weights, because any sport should involve personal physical development...shite, even Tiger Woods pumps iron).
from personal experience/coaching, i'd have to say baseball. i've known a professional football player personally, who didn't even start playing football until he was a junior in high school. i've heard similar stories about basketball players.
baseball players work on strength, conditioning, but also spend hours on end working on specific quick-twitch muscle groups and muscle memory to perfect their swings and throwing mechanics, so i'd have to give a nod to the little round ball.
my boy, who plays everything well, spends most of his efforts perfecting his baseball skills in order to play select ball, but he competes well with boys even older then him in basketball and football.
there's my opinion, for what it's worth.
