Jaws didn't give me nightmares, but when I was a kid I thought about that shark when I swam at night, even if it was just in a pool.

Yeah. No actual nightmares either but the thought that a)they're real, b)they could easily kill you and especially c)if one was 20 feet away from you, you'd never know it until it was too late - continues to freak me out to this day.

Most people my age (late 20's) who have a fear of clowns can attribute it to the movie IT. However, my own fear of clowns is due to this...

Poltergeist jacked me up royally.

Gotcha by 1 minute. Poltergeist is a seriously wicked movie. Clown, scary old man, indians, mirrors, scray old woman, creepy fuzzy tvs, it has a little something for everyone.

This kind of creeped me out (even at my age), but it really scared the hell out of my two teenagers!

frick Pennywise. Between him and Poltergeist, frick clowns.

Also, even though I was an adult, the scene in House on Haunted Hill remake always freaked me out...the one where the doctor's head just moves super fast and creepily. I believe it's called head twitch.

This is an example of it.

It was also used in Jacob's Ladder.

Freaky shite.

The cenobyte with the throat open did bother me. Having read a lot of Clive barker, I'm gonna say that most of his villians freak me the frick out.

As a kid I was terrified of the scene in poltergeist where the lights float down the stairs. Whenever I would go up or down our stairs I would have to run.

I've always loved scary movies. Think I'll watch candyman tonight

Pennywise in the drain is the winner.

Clowns are creepy enough on their own but having Pennywise in the drain amps it up to 11.

He didn't start my fear of clowns. That definitely started with Poltergeist but Penny took it to the next level.
