I haven't seen it. I read the book in 7th grade and it scared the crap out of me. Wasn't it made for tv? This always lead me to believe it would suck

It isn't great but it is good enough. It is elevated by the performance of Tim Curry as Pennywise.
But of course since it is on tv it is toned down some and at times has some cheesy acting.

The Gremlins gave me nightmares and to this day I cannot look at one on TV.
I just get spooked by little crawly creatures like that. None of the other big monsters gave me issues but damnit I cannot look at Gremlins.
