How about baseball recruiting? It's sounding more and more like Kevin Gausman will be a Tiger. I for one am pretty excited about having a legitimate ace back on staff. Ranaudo was disappointing last year because of the injuries, but when we have a healthy ace, like Coleman two years ago, we're a different team.

If Zach sticks too, we have a pretty potent 1-2 punch for the next three years.

Gausman is of age to leave after 2, isn't he?

He has develop his secondary pitches until he becomes a weekend starter.

Yeah, I'm not banking on Gausman becoming an ace. Now, Lee, thats another story. He would be a star from day 1 for the baseball team.

Yes, Gausman and Cecchini would both be eligible sophomores.

Dream staff?

Ranaudo comes back. Lee and Gausman enroll for the fall.

(It won't happen, but I can dream can't I)

Colorado is not exactly a hot bed for baseball, the competition he sees does not compare to other states.

Those dudes are snowboarding during baseball season.

I could see Gausman starting out in a ML/Closer role and then eventually rotating into weekend starter once he gets some offspeed. I think he'd be a great Closer candidate to start off with, IMO. Possibly move Ott but I'm not sure LSU wants to do that.

I think if Lee makes it to campus...our weekend starters are..

Lee
Rittiner
Alsup

Gausman needs more that a good fastball to be a weekend starter. And I like having at least one lefty in there..and since Matulus is injured..that leaves Rittiner.

He "blew up" last year in summer ball against national competition then had a rough senior year in Colorado. Everyone knows what he is capable of. They just want to see consistency.

Cecchini and Gausman should enroll. They are both first round prospects who will still have 2 years of draft leverage. They'll wind up ahead financially, get 2 years of education and play better competition than rookie/A ball over the next 2 years. Its a no brainer IMO.

Who were the two pitchers out for next year due to arm surgery? I thought that Alsup was one of them.

For what it's worth, I talked to Kevin and his summer league coach today. He said there's not much in the way of negotiations at the moment.

Here's a link, for those interested: LINK

Solid first post. The comments made by his general manager at Vegas are interesting. Predicting he could wind up throwing 105 in a couple of years, comparing him to strasburg, etc.

Lee, Gausman, Eades, Ott, Alsup, Garrett...

I'm not going to include AR, but, I'd still let him pitch if he wanted to come back.
