Right about Glens kids- the oldest signed with LSU then took the money and went pro ball,,
Biggest reason LSU loses kids in state- they are close enough to really know what goes on. The out of state kids only see LSU from a distance,, no real idea what a cluster it really is. As far as pitcher development- scouts push kids to Vanderbilt, Miss state, Louisville, even Wake Forest,, Who wants to come to LSU and because Paul doesn't like you pitch 20 innings a year?
Look at the pitchers on the team who after 4-5 years have gotten no better than when they stepped on campus..
how much noise did Live Oak make in that first game ??

Lost to a 30 seed I think..

re: David $&/7?:;/$ Grewe.......

The only thing Grewe has done is teach that damn cutter and blow arms out. Bringing in better pitchers to start with makes him look better, but look again by years end. How many walks did Florida issue all weekend? The reason for walks is different for every pitcher, if someone knew anything about pitching mechanics then you could help each pitcher individually. Or, just yell "throw strikes" from the dugout..
Look around the SEC at elite programs WITH a pitching coach - Vandy, Florida, Arkansas or even outside the SEC and you will see pitchers develop and improve during the season.
By the way, Robichaux is probably the best pitching coach in the state..

Wonder how much he wanted?
"at the moment" is accurate, but players are moving up and down as we speak. The baseball sites (PG included) only give a guess based on the last time someone was seen.. alot can change in the 8 months from Jupiter to the June draft.
Dak's brother/cousin/dad-- quit posting about a player who is NOT coming to LSU. Prescott is a good players-- as several around are..go sign up for Miss State forum and post to your heart's content.

News flash- LSU is NOT recruiting Dak,, he is somewhere else--

3 out with TJ -- Rittner also
Better hope the pitchers come beacause returning LHP Jordan Rittner went under the knife for Tommy John surgery-- that makes 3 ruined arms in one year --joining Matulis and Bergouis -- with LSU pitching coach Grewe. Wonder what the record is for pitchers going down in one year?
Under armour all-american game

2011 commit Carson Baranik - RHP-Parkway High School BC LA playing in Under Armour All-American at Wrigley Aug 14th-- on MLB network and MLB.com.

pitchers returning

something going on with pitchers at LSU besides lack of a pitching coach..or a direct result of.. Matulis & JoeyB BOTH out with tommy john surgery required..
He was a no show-- listed but never showed up..
Couple of notes from PG Nationals
Bell was not there- not sure why
Evan Powell chose not to come to rest for Team USA trials
Cave was there - but did not throw at all. Seems to have a sore arm. I doubt he ever comes to LSU.
Tyler Moore- though not blogged in PG- in a versatile player- can catch, play some infield-- I see him as a corner guy.
Terrance Magee - from East Code area code tryouts- unbelievable speed, plus arm and above avg bat. Thought he might be a football guy who can play baseball, but he could put the football down at any time and excel on the baseball field.
If a boy goes in the top 10 rounds, then he's probably given an indication that he's going to sign, and the statistics show us that most of the kids drafted in the top 10 rounds end up signing.

One of the dumbest statements I have ever heard.
Try to win in the SEC with players who are NOT in the top 300 .. good luck.
What do you do if you are Bedrosian or Gausman? The only reason you would not sign is to play in college and to get better. Is that going to happen here? What pitcher actually improved from where he was before this year started to the end? How about Joey B.. or Matulis? Grewe staying not only hurts current pitchers but runs off potential ones.
Hire someone who actually can coach pitchers, with experience doing so. Grewe is a head coach in training,, LSU had the 3rd best staff this weekend,,

re: Ranaudo is raw talent...

ERA is irrelevant for draft. What is important is how he is throwing the ball. Which is not bad,, but not where he was. He will be middle to late first round I suspect.
Catman is 100% correct.

Don't think that incoming recruits arent watching what is happening.. the best program in the country SHOULD be able to hire a pitching coach with experience, knowledge of mechanics and maybe even stood on the mound with a ball in his hand somewhere in the past.
When we hired a hitting coach to be the pitching coach, that was the downfall of the staff.
The guys on this staff have gotten worse as the season goes along.. obviously Grewe's philosophy on "let the figure it out" is working. They NEED someone who has a clue.

LSU will never have dominant pitching again- no matter who shows up-- and be surprised if pitchers bolt and guys sign rather than come here. College pitchers need a coach.

Mr "I forgot my glove" - somewhere in the 5-8 round
This was from a MLB scout yesterday.. said Garin would start running in a couple of weeks, and that he may very well get the $$ he was looking for.

Hope Jacoby Jones shows up..
