Liucci reports
"ESPN stepping to the table and offering the Big 12 a deal would really change the dynamic of this thing, IMO, and would end it for good"

I'm sure ESPN is foaming at the mouth for football rights to:

Iowa St
Baylor
Kansas St
Texas Tech
Kansas
Mizzou

60% of the conference is football garbage

20% (OSU and A&M) are mediocre

Where exactly in their programming will ESPN going to fit Big XII minus 2 games in? The SEC will not let ESPN do this to their detriment...

ABC/ESPN already has Big 12 rights. This would be an increased payout on their current contract AFAIK.

ESPN/ABC needs to be careful. If they over-valuate the Big 12, they will pay for it when it comes time to renegotiate with the SEC.

So this has all been a blackmail scam by UT to squeeze more $$$ out of ABC/ESPN by threatening to go where they would get a TV deal with Fox?

I think the SEC would need to add a new school in order to bring ESPN back to the table.

Maybe this was ESPN's plan all along. Found this on there.

Skip to the bottom. Lots of words but this summarizes it:
"When you take Nebraska, and Colorado wanders off to join the Pacific-10, the Big 12 will be the Big Ten. And you will be the Big 12. Your leagues can simply switch logos and carry on. No fuss, no muss."

that's what it's starting to look like. UT threatens to leave, Big 12 offers them more lopsided revenue and they "decide to stay." typical slimy Texas frickheads.
