Texas has no fear of an increased SEC recruiting presence in Texas

This whole realignment mess is going to have long term political consequences in the state of Texas and this new attempt to save the Big 12-2 is a CYA move by Texas.....and an effective one. A&M will be the team which gives the Big 12-2 its death blow if they go to the SEC. There is no way to spin this otherwise.
UT isn't concerned about an increased recruiting presence in Texas by the SEC. As long as Mack is the head coach in Austin, the Horns will always get a top tier recruiting class.
Actually, if the SEC robs players from anyone, it will be OU and A&M so I say to the SEC, "Welcome to Texas!"
No matter what happens, I just hope A&M and Texas stop playing so we can get a season ending opponent who helps, instead of hurting, our BCS ranking.

Unfortunately, for Texas, everyone knows this, so the move to make A&M look like the bad guy is a complete fail and actually IMO makes Texas look even worse.

To expidite a loss to an SEC team?

WTF are you talking about? Did you not play A&M at the end of the 05 and 09 seasons? Are you trying to blame them for 2008? If so, you have no idea how the BCS works.

Nice attempt at spin by texas to blame A&M if the Big 12 fails.

bottom line is that texas isnt scared of competition- they want to go to a place where they can throw their weight around and dictate how things are done. they wont be able to do that in the SEC. end of argument.

Sure there is. Give up your own tv network and equal revenue sharing for the good of the conference. Problems solved.

you're the jilted lover right now. You can't save face in this, so quit trying.

Wow. Take off the glasses.
To think that this may not affect recruiting in Texas is foolish. The ags in the sec will offer recruits something different, a school with a pair of balls.
Also, defend texas all you want, everyone not colored burnt orange knows what has happened here.

No way to undo that public stupidity.

I don't think it's recruiting that Texas is worried about. Texas averages 10 wins a season for what the last decade? That won't happen in the SEC. They'll end up with seasons like LSU has had the last couple of years.
It's about the wins and losses.

You tea sipping fruit cakes are the ones who started this and it blew up in your faces.
Anyone who would want Texas in his conference is an idiot. Historically they have been nothing but trouble. Let them move to the PAC Whatever. They will fit in better with the flower children on the left coast.

It's an effective move if you wear burnt orange glasses and can't see the forest for the trees. Even if A&M comes to the SEC, Texas can still pledge "loyalty" to the Big 12 (now -3 w/o A&M).
UT looks like a manipulative bitch in this one.

That's funny, Saturday you were saying that Texas didn't want to play LSU because they didn't want to increaser LSU's recruiting presence in Texas.
UT boys should just keep quiet, all their talk is just starting to look like this:

there is still plenty of talent to go around. As long as they are good Texas will still get the recruits they want. Everyone recruits Texas anyway, won't change if an SEC team is part of the SEC, at least for Texas anyway.

Wrong......remember, Texas is doing this to pacify state politicians. The bottom line is that Texas was willing to commit to the Big 12-2. If A&M leaves, they killed the conference in the eyes of these people.

Like I said on a previous thread, in 2008, after all of the 3 tied teams had played each other, after OU had raped Texas Tech, Texas was still #2 in the BCS. Then, later on, Texas beat A&M 49-9 and Texas fell to #3 in the BCS because of how little that win meant because of the Aggies low BCS worth. The same thing would have happened in 2005 if Penn State hadn't lost in the final seconds to Michigan. Getting A&M off the end of our schedule is a blessing for Texas.
