I have a friend in from out of town who wants to eat some really good red beans and rice. I want to take him somewhere that uses mandas sausage. Does anyone know where is the best place to take him for lunch today?

Their sausage is terrible and I've been telling him about mandas (his family is polish so I can't just throw him any old sausage)

"jambalaya shop"
really? I hope it's better than the jambalaya because I would rather eat out of a porta potty than that!

they have the most overpriced crappy food on the planet.

To be honest, I do actually like Popeyes more than any other restaurant except they don't have sausage. I have never understood why they don't make a entree version with sausage at popeyes.
Most restaurants tend to be a bit too watery or not creamy enough.

what about Sammy's??
I don't eat RBandR (I know un-cajun)- but they are slimy to me....But I can't offer a real opinion- only an opinion of good 'cajun' food at other places that may have it
I know all my friends who like it do like Chimes

Some of my favorites for Red Beans:
Zea's
Off the Hook
The Chimes
Most places red bean's are too thin in my opinion.

This.
Comes with fried chicken breast and nice link of sausage. Don't think it's Manda's though.

Zea's on a Monday. Also,
Why? Completely flavorless, IMO.

Acme's is pretty good.
I had those last time I was at Acme and color me unimpressed. Almost no flavor.

Think Zea's uses Paul Prudhomme's andouille sausage. Says it on the menu I think.
Off the Hook uses Poche's (in Breaux Bridge) andouille and ham hocks which is also good.

This is true. I mash a cup or so of the cooked beans on the side of the pot when I am cooking them. I also add a stick of butter at the end and stir in. This both makes them creamy and shiny. I don't want red bean soup.
