Corexit is carcinogenic and its ingredients absorbed thru skin

Let's review... the EPA allowed dumping up to a million gallons of this stuff into the Gulf despite already having been banned in Britain, and despite the existence of competing safer products. Even worse, Corexit's ingredients were kept secret.
It's everybody's Gulf... Not BP's, not the EPA's, not the Government's. With an application of this magnitude we had a right to know what this stuff contained.
Too late to fire Lisa Jackson... she's already done her damage. Time to investigate how much she raked in personally, because it's hard to imagine how a responsible person would have approved this stuff.

Corexit
Also known as , EC9500 (EC stands for Exxon Chemical, Nalco was once owned by Exxon).
The EPA gave the green light. Any lawsuit people file against Nalco will be dismissed. All Nalco has to say is, "EPA Preapproved Dispersant."

Hmmm. So what we put in the water does matter after all?
What a novel thought.
One would think a quick MSDS check would have revealed this years ago.
Amen to that.

One of the few times I agree with you. Very bad decision by the EPA.

Have they stopped using this dispersant?
Posted on 6/11/10 at 8:29 am to back9Tiger
Obama needs to sign an executive order mandating they stop using Corexit. It is criminal
ETA: I find it to be more criminal on the part of the government for allowing it....what happened between the EPA telling them to stop using it, and their refusal to stop? Someone get paid off?

COREXIT 9500 is on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) National Contingency Plan (NCP) Product Schedule. This listing does not mean that EPA approves, recommends, licenses, certifies or authorizes the use of COREXIT 9500 on an oil discharge. This listing means only that data have been submitted to EPA as required by Subpart J of the National Contingency Plan 300.915. COREXIT 9500 has been tested and accepted by Environment Canada, and approved by U.K. Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food as a Type 2 and 3 dispersant. COREXIT 9500 has also been approved in Norway, France, Singapore and Indonesia. Prior to use, check with local authorities.
Found this on a corexit product sheet when news first came out that they were using dispersant. I don't quite understand how it's allowed on NCP product schedule to use on an oil spill without EPA approval.

Check out her history in New Jersey when she was head of their DEQ. She let polluters clean up their own super-fund sites. She is another example piss poor appointments.

Nalco was never owned by Exxon. Nalco and Exxon had joint venture at one time. I believe it was part of Nalco's process chemical's division.

i don't know all the details of the dispersant. again, we all have "connections", but my connections, specifically some gentlemen who work for marathon advised me that the best thing that can be done for now is using the dispersant.
all those oil plumes you hear about, thats oil that has collected due to the dispersant that will mostly drop to the floor and "disperse". thats the point of the "dispersant".
if it weren't for the dispersant then the beaches would be much more black than they are now.
however who the hell knows what will really happen short term or long term

Careful there Rex, you know who is raping the nation w/ their product ? Here is a little list of the crooks involved in Nalco; Warren Buffett, Maurice Strong, Al Gore, George Soros, Apollo, Blackstone, Goldman Sachs, Hathaway Berkshire, Tony Rezko, BARACK OBAMA ! Yes sir, do a little digging and you can find the devils in the details here.
