What's a good post-Katrina hotel in the French Quarter?

My wife and I will be in town for a week or so in July. What's a good hotel in the Quarter? I'm thinking about the Monteleone, but I'd like to stay in something a littler smaller (ie quainter) if possible.

I know this isn't food related, but you guys seem like the most knowledgable posters on td.com for all things New Orleans.

Thanks in advance.

How much you want to spend? The Place D'Armes is a pretty quaint.

The Cornstalk also if you want a smaller place.

Around $100 a day would be nice. I'll go $130 for the right place.

I'd go with the LaQuinta.

Hotel Provincial on Chartres probably fits your description.

LINK

I like to stay there every once in a great while because it's quaint and convenient.

I second Place d'Armes, as well.

By the way, I don't get the "post Katrina" requirement. Are you looking for a new one that opened after Katrina?

I was born and raised i New Orleans, but I haven't lived there since 1993. I knew the French Quarter hotels well while I lived there, but I know a lot has changed since Katrina.

Place d'Armes is nice...not the best matresses when I was there for the 2007 championship...the courtyard was beuatiful and the locale is perfect.

Le Richaleau is a quiet off the beat place on Chartres. Provincial is nice.

Royal Sonesta and Omni Royal are larger hotels...the rooms are nicer, but you do lose some of the feel of the Quarter that you would get in the Dupuy, Place d'Armes, etc.

Okay. I was curious since Katrina was nearly 5 years ago. I haven't seen or heard of many changes in hotels, now that I think about it. Quite are few are better from renovations following Katrina.

Oh and if you are staying for a week the full kitchen and roof top pool would probably be beneficial. I normally charge hotel rates when someone stays for a full week too. Let me know if you want some more info.
