British Petroleum is sending 11 cleanup crews to Pensacola Beach in Florida after a number of small balls of oil were spotted, the Pensacola News Journal reports.

The balls were likely "weathered" oil, parts of crude that gets broken up as it mixes with water, an official from the Environmental Protection Agency told Sam Champion of ABC's Good Morning America.

The tar patties are pretty thick on parts of the beach, as much as one every foot, Keith Wilkins from Escambia County emergency management told the Associated Press.

Forecasters reported earlier that oil would reach Florida shores by the week's end.

Meanwhile, BP reported some oil was flowing up a pipe Friday from a cap it attached to its broken Gulf well but crude is still spewing, the AP reports.

Suppose to go to PCB in two weeks...I'm sure the tar balls will be rolling in soon.

I might be playing small ball instead of lounging on the beach. Damn BP!

instead of picking up luggage, you can pick up oil. Oil doesn't tip though.

I am in Navarre now and small tar balls are beginning to show up here. Same with Pensacola Beach.

We just got back from Navarre today ... I laughed at some lady yesterday who said she'd found a tar ball ... she threw it back in the water and laughed ...

Glad we went when we did.

for those going and NOT going in the water, go to Blackwater River in the Blackwater state park ... we went canoeing and had a great time with our kids. Just a thought.

I am here in Navarre for a wedding party and we had oil on the beaches yesterday. I have now seen it inthe marshes in cocodrie and on the beaches in Navarre. There were some small crews picking up the oil yesterday.
