Later. I love PT but with all the other players we have to worry about keeping, I didn't even feel comfortable paying a running back ~$4-5m a year.

"wants" and realistically expects are definitely different.
Steven Jackson money? Go play for the Rams then you greedy frick. I'm sure Jackson would drop his pay to be here!

Give it to him, he deserves it

this was his first good year. Pierre is the product of a good oline and a great passing game. he may be vital for our offense but he is a product of a good system. If he goes somewhere else he will suffer. he knows that. I think he will take a little less

no thanks. I love PT, but rbs are great long term investments. Especially an injury prone one like PT has been

It would be interesting if he signs his tender and then next year the Saints have him and Reggie as free agents. Would they get the same deal?
And I don't believe the Saints are going to let Reggie walk, Payton loves him as an offensive weapon too much.

If he wants 7 million THIS year(i.e. front-loaded contract) i'm cool with it. Good for him. But year-to-year, no.

I want 7m a year while we're at it. I really don't think he's worth that but if he gets it good for him. I have been a PT fan since he came over but I think he's a benefactor of the system too and that he would suffer if his performance were more based on himself.

Darren Sharper deserves more money too, but its a business and there will probably be a cap back in place next year.

I deserve to win the Powerball, but it's not going to happen.
We may need to draft a RB next year.

take a LOT less or see ya.
RB's are pretty interchangeable in this system.

RBs are a dime a dozen. I'm not in favor of paying any RB that much, especially in our system.
Thanks Pierre, but see ya.

Jackson carried the ball 324 times for 1416 yards last year at a 4.4 ypc avg.
Thomas averaged 5.4 ypc, but only toted the rock 147 times.
If PT had stayed healthy, and gotten the same number of carries as Jackson (and still averaged 5.4 yards) he would have ended up with 1749 yards
Awesome numbers, but he has to know his place. Of course he deserves more money, much more than he is currently earning. But 7 mill a year? He needs to stop listening to his agent and Chris Johnson and be realistic. The team needs him, but at this point anyone who watches the Saints realizes that it's damn near a plug and play offense. Also, if you want a long career as a RB in the NFL, don't carry the ball 300+ times a year for God's sake. Those are the days gone by. Hell, the Saints rotating RBs is now the blueprint on how to use halfbacks without killing one at a time.

And now the other shoe falls.
This is why you don't pay Bush that ridiculous salary. How in the hell can you look a man in the face and tell him that the team rewards contribution and success and offer to pay your starter half of what the second stringer (cue for the "Bush is a special player" crowd) is scheduled to make?
Love Bush and the excitement; don't care for the problems his salary is going to create.
