The internet service we have slows down to much when we bring up the feeds, whats the latest?

No mention of hydrates yet, which I take as a good sign. Also, they are supposed to start capturing from the Skandi Neptune via the C/K lines which has probably not happened yet. It will likely take a few days for them to maximize the capture.
My $0.02. If hydrates are not clogging the valves on the top of Tophat, then hopefully this means water intrusion is negligible. Of course there is 15000 lbs. of pressure at this point also.

does it appear that the top hat is moving around a little?
Need to put some bungee cords on that bitch.

just saw a clip from a morning interview where Doug Suttles said there are currently 4 open valves that they will be closing throughout the day today.....

I also read this somewhere. Amazing how BP always manages to leave some glimer of hope dangling out there. The only thing they've been consistent with is telling the public they just need to wait a little longer...the fix is always just around the corner.

How are they handling 15k lbs of pressure at the vessel on top, that seems like a real challenge. Is there a choke or something, which would make a seal at the bottom very difficult...

viking poseiden is showing another top hat in a video, looks like they are bringing it up or down
nvmnd, that must be the sealed cap thing

I think with a difficult operation like this, things have to be done in a stepwise fashion to see if things hold out. Rushing could raise the chance of errors and make things worse. No point in raising hopes unless you have confidence that things are secured.
These attempts remind me of Apollo 13.....

I just pulled up the morning feed and it's spewing just as much as it was last night. They can't be getting too much at the surface.

check Poseidon – ROV 1, been sitting there some time. that is the sealed box. pray for the saw back
Posted on 6/4/10 at 10:22 am to jeff967
dont think thats gonna happen, they just said its gonna take 1-2 days to adjust the flow. Last I heard it was pulling up 1000 barrels per day.

Unfortunately, I've begun to resign myself to the fact that the relief wells are the only sure thing, & everything until then is window-dressing. I balance that by thinking that Jindal & the state's lawyers will find a way to basically turn BP into a slush fund to restore the wetlands & the way of life BP's unfortunate accident has caused. I am a defender of private enterprise, but when they screw up, they gotta pay. They took this risk in drilling & the good people of Louisiana have lived with this risk; now they owe us.

I have the same question.

The sealed box would actually create a seal at the top of the BOP instead of just float a "hat" on top of it with not much of a seal at all.

better stabbing guides, with a heavy steel band in them to fit around the flang = less wabble.
and one big a$$ rubber gasket inside of the hat, for the strait cut pipe pup to jam into.
