I forgot where I read that, but if you get a chance to watch Matthew Fox audition for Jack it's pretty impressive.
It's the scene from the pilot where he's convincing Kate to stitch him up and he's telling the story about counting backwards from five. Apparently, that's the audition that convinced the writers to make Jack the main character.

i did see that, it was very good and it was pretty cool to see his audition for Jack and his one for sawyer back to back like that to see how much different he acted

This is hilarious. ESPN explained LOST to sports fans as if the show were instead about the 2007 New England Patriots. It will take you at least 2 times looking through to get everything it is referencing in the show:
