My sister is graduating from nursing school and the family is celebrating at one of those restaurants I named above. She hasn't decided yet, so I told her I'll ask the F&D Board to help out. I've only been to Commander's once, and it was excellent. Never been to Stella or Nola.

And go...

Stella is much more expensive and Im not sure if they can handle a large crowd.

NOLA.. ehhh its ok but more casual

Commanders would be my choice if it were a large group.. If just a few people and money didnt matter then Stella!

A large, varied crowd is best served at CP.

NOLA has been hitting the mark lately. Not in the same league food-wise as the other two. You certainly wouldn't go wrong by going here though.

Stella! may be the best food in the city, but for a more fun, big group setting, CP.

Been lately? My last three trips have rocked recently. Regardless, I agree with your assessment of the other two.

My girlfriend is in the same graduation but I have to miss their celebration dinner because I am stuck in BR. I think I am going to hit up Bayona for mine the week after.

My immediate family is 6, plus my 2 grandmas, and probably my sister's fiancée, so 8-9 people. Would that be too big for Stella?

It's casual and I happen to like that. Only a few patrons stare at my overalls. That damn chicken wing app is awesome. Never had a bad dish there yet.

The food is very adventurous at Stella! as well...I think the groups size is fine...but def look at the menu for both pricepoint and how adventurous it is....fair warning on both...other than that Stella's food is top notch...parking is valet and easy as well.

It wouldn't be too big. Are the grandmas adventurous eaters? I would say you would be much safer at Commander's.

Like others have said.. CP is your safest option all around. Stella! would be an aweful lot of money to shell out of a few in the crowd do not like to try thing a little bit different.

Make sure your dad, or whoever is paying for it, will like a Stella! meal. I'd be scared that the grandmothers will just stare at the menu and give a WTF look.

My wife almost hurled when she bit into a foie gras blt there. They were really generous with the foie gras, and she just didn't expect something about it.

It is Iron Chef type of food/presentation if you didn't know. Bad explanation, but it is over the top if you aren't used to exotic ingredients.

ETA: Not to take away anything from the wonderful job they do there. I love it, and would eat there more often if I had deeper pockets.

Been quite a while since I have been to NOLA. Probably close to 5 years actually.

I did a quick run-down of their menu and automatically sympathized for my Dad's wallet, but I think he is prepared for this.

Thanks for the responses. Hopefully this will help her decide.

For this particular group and occasion, I'd got with Commander's, as well. It also has valet parking.

I just can't imagine having a graduation party at a place where they're going to serve your group dinner wearing white gloves (Stella!). Not to mention that you'll be paying the hotel next door to park there.

Commander's, Commander's, Commander's

Go to CP, I don't think I have ever seen a table bigger than an 8 top at Stella!, and even that is rare. CP is more of a celebratory spot anyway, it'll definitely be more fun there.
