Na, I think alot of us do. If Ranaudo can stay healthy and if Matulis steps up, we'll definitely be in the running.

Talent wise on the roster, it is very possible. But if the offense doesn't average 24 pts a game, NO WAY.

All of Miles LSU teams have avaraged 24 or more points per game. 4 of his 5 teams are in the Top 10 in LSU Football All-Time Scoring.

Exactly. I hope we win every single year. But not even my heart tells me that we stand a shot this year. Usually it's my head saying no and my heart saying yes. Not so this year.

i feel exactly the same way. in 1994 (under freaking Curley Hallman), i swore LSU would make a bowl after nearly making one the previous year. classic case of my head saying no and heart saying yes. in 1999, i swore '98 was a fluke and Dinardo would turn it around. again, classic case of my head saying no and heart saying yes. this year, my head says we're in for a debacle and my heart agrees.

well, i think we can win the west and win 11 games.

2003, we were 11 and 1 going into the seccg number 3, fighting for a spot in the title game.
in 2005, we were 11 and 1 going into the seccg number 5, with no way of getting into the championship game.
in 2006, we lost to two really good teams, one of which won the nc game that year, didnt get to the nc.
but in 2007, we lost to two teams we shouldn't have and ended up playing and winning it.

the point is, a nc season is lucky, unless you go 12 and then 13 and 0. if we win the west, i'll be happy.

Yes, and we won a title that way. I was simply implying that that is the bar that has to be reached for there to be any shot. The one year out of the Top 10 was last year. So we can repeat that and have the some holes on D and plan on a title.

So let's raise it and say we have to average 26 per game without improvement fromt he D.

I am also going to call the last 2 years a fluke. I always think that LSU will win every game. This year is no different. The offensive line will be much better and if the running game gets into gear the sky is the limit. I knew that the basketball team would have a few off years after graduating 5 seniors and I thought that the football team would have trouble after Ryan Perriloux left us in a bind. The running game was stuffed because 1. we didn't have a throwing game and 2. the offensive line was to small and physical. The two headed monster defensive coordinators was corrected last year. This should be a much better team.

Going into 2003 we had an unsettled QB situation. Mauck was hurt pretty bad in 02. In 2007 we lost the best college QB in the nation in the draft. Would anyone picked us to win the hardware those years?

A lot of people did in 2007. We weren't picked that high for 2003, though.

Football FYI

Naw, I do as well...in 2011. IMHO, too many questions this season + 2 tough OOC games = another finish somewhere in the top 25.

we will be top 5 at the end of 2010 but in 2011 we start the season as #3 and win the title as jefferson as a senior

the scheduel sets up well. north carolina and wv are both trash, if you've ever watched em you know we should have no problem. we'll out talent nc, outcoach wv (a high school coach could outcoach wv).

florida is going to be a tough game, but what everyone is missing is that alabama actually has to play them this year as well. arkansas is going to be tough. scared of miss st.

other than that we should be fine. look for a lot of close games again though, like 07.

I'd say that this year is marked by a 10-2 season, top 10 finish, SEC West title, BCS Bowl... and that's about what we'll see out of this team.

2011 is going to be the year we have a shot at a National Title. It's definitely possible this year, but we have a lot of work to do before we start thinking about reaching that plateau.

None of those is reasonably possible. The top 10 finish would be the closest, since it could possibly be achieved without any of the others (as, for example, it might have in 2009 if we hadn't stunk so badly in the Capital One Bowl). All the others pretty much require at least one or two others to happen along with them.

If someone were to save this and repost it a year from now (I certainly won't), it would sound really hilarious then, to the extent that it doesn't already.

No, we don't. We have the "want". That's all we need. Actually doing things is unnecessary.
