Can't say I have been to those exact places. Although, I cannot see how there is a vast distiction between those areas as the process is pretty simple. People in LA pretty much all boil them the same, although you will find a few variations.

Like in LA, there is a few. The timing, spice blend (there are many blends that people use--most are proprietary-Old Bay is not really used much in Bay counties), inclusion of vinegar rather than beer, the type of salt.

I've lived in many places, but live in S. Louisiana by choice.

You shouldn't be so angry.

You guys are rough on this page. There is nothing wrong with Old Bay seasoning. I sprinkle it around my dogs food bowl and it keeps the ants away....LOL

Actually pretty good if you know how to cook with it!

I made some crab cakes Sunday for aptz using the recipie on the old bay can. Pretty damn good. And Baltimore has the best crab cakes I've ever eaten.

But steamed crabs?

Had a co worker from that area of Maryland and he swore that his steamed crabs would destroy boiled crabs Louisiana style. So we had a crab off and had the entire company PLUS his family was in town from Maryland. Overwhelming consensus (including much of his family) was that the Louisiana style boiled crabs were much better.

Of course his crabs may not have been then best sample but he claims to have placed 3rd in a large crab festival when he lived there.

Deal, I will sponsor, provide the crabs and be a judge.

Now lets see who will boil and who will steam?

Put your money where your mouth is guys!
