Crowton was calling the shots. And Miles listened to those shots, disagreed with some of them, and did nothing.
I was told they have been so argumentative and discombobulated at times, that many of the staff have removed their headsets when the offense was on the field. Of course, that wasn't a very long period of time, was it?
I don't think it's necessary for the head coach to call the shots, but to remove himself from input entirely and to the point that he loses touch with the game situations, does not entitle him to be in the upper echelon of compensation in his field.
He even goes as far as to speak as though he has no control of the play calling. He doesn't act like he is in control. He is not perceived to be in control. If nothing else, the program deserves someone that can prepare and coordinate.
We've got a good grocery shopper, with no menu, and no idea how to cook. The kitchen and the help are second to none, but everything is leftovers being microwaved.

It won't suck so bad when he gets a Percy Harvin contract instead of a Pat White contract.
Your username suits you if you honestly believe Shep gets anywhere close to the amount of touches that Percy Harvin got.
Those touches are in the infamous hidden playbook that will be unleashed at some point.

In the crucial Florida game, Shepard did not see the field at all.
And that is why Crowton should have been fired. He couldn't figure out a game plan to use him against Florida. I don't care if it was raining.

this is what i have been saying since he got here

Okay, that's 4.8 times per game in 2006, his freshman year. Shep had 3.85 last year. Not much difference.
Hell, Harvin had less than 8 touches a game his last year. That's very doable for Shep.

If that is true, that shows weak leadership.

He is going to have to recreate himself this season to have any chance at remaining.
It could happen.

I can only hope. If he not on the field almost every play and getting 10+ touches, then it'll be fair to say he is underutilized.
Don't ever see SHep getting 10 plus touches a game at LSU. Not going to happen. Hope I am wrong, but it would be a shocker. This isn't based on his potential, its based on Miles/Crowtons record for using players at LSU

As much as I wanted to see him run the offense, he would be our QB by now if the coaching staff thought he could do it...and we have no Heisman contenders at QB as it is.
Shepard might be called a WR now, but if Miles and Crowton utilize him like Harvin, he can be a weapon for us.

I agree.
I still don't understand. If Terrel Pryor can play QB, so can Shep.
Last years #3 WR had 10 catches. And he actually was a WR. frick.

Miles and Crowton are complete morons. Crowton's history of steady decline is well documented. Miles might be borderline retarded. Fortunately for them, it's football, a sport full of meat-heads in which any guy who can tie his own shoes is going to dominate the rest of the idiots - so Miles can still function with RIDICULOUSLY superior talent. Unfortunately for us, he's borderline fricking retarded.
This is just another in a long series of squandered talented players. RS's enormous talent will enable him to make some plays, but he'll never be coached by people who know what the frick they're doing, so his (as well as any other top player dumb enough to come here) potential will never be realized.
Bon appetite.

Long Series? Name me 10 players whose talent was "squandered" then.

The NFL disagrees.
Go back to Poli board and OT where you can atleast pretend like you know WTF you're talking about.

Don't you know that each year we have more talent than any other team in college football? Look at last year...we had more talent than Bama with their HT RB, # 2 ranked D, and NC team if you listen to some.
One thing you do need to change in your mindset...that should be the "friggin'" Saints!!

I see Terrel Pryor winning at Ohio State and he throws the worst fricking ball I have ever seen.
Do you think Russell Shepard throws the ball better than Terrel Pryor?
