Whole Foods

pleasantly surprised by how good their BBQ is. don't really care for the sauce, but the meat is very tasty and tender.

I've tried Jay's, TJ Ribs, Voodoo and Sonny's. fairly disappointed in the BBQ selection in town. especially considering all the hype about TJ Ribs, mediocre at best.

voodoo has very good pulled pork

the bbq chicken at tj ribs is real good

i like jay's bbq sauce, but some of their stuff is so bad it makes you wonder why they don't change a few things up

podnuhs is pretty good

i don't think baton rouge has a best bbq.

I stick to the poboys.

They are hit or miss. I had some brisket from there yesteday and it was fork tender and downright good. Should have bought a pound. But sometimes it's just decent.

It amazes me that this is the case.

I don't think it would be that difficult to copy one of the better BBQ restaurants found throughout the Southeast.

I'm surprised that Dreamland didn't take off, but not surprised. They were a little too upscale for a BBQ joint.

While I'm not saying that Dreamland is the be all/end all of BBQ, their old place in Tuscaloosa is EXACTLY how a good BBQ joint should look.

Two areas were BR food is lacking:

BBQ and Kolaches

hey...wait a minute...(light bulb flickering)...BBQ Beef Kolaches...Anyone got a hundred grand I can borrow?

I have had Voodoo, Jay's, Podnuh's, Pimanyoli's beat them all, and it's not close. Not only are the sauces and meats excellent, they are generous in their portions. Have not have Couyon's, so I can't say. There is a place in Prairieville on Airline that is excellent also, big pile of wood on the side, can't remember the name, but it has been there a while.

I have been to Dreamland in Tuscaloosa, Jim 'n' Nicks in B'ham many times, Leatha's in Hattiesburg, Pimanyoli's is better, and closer.

Best BBQ I ever had was at Debbie's, a dirt floor shack near Hemphill, TX.

Whole Foods is good. Couyons is good. I wouldn't turn down Voodoo, either.

I never went there, but my friends who are buds with Ricky B said that the bbq just wasn't that good, and the menu was a little wacky.

This was the place that John Brady almost got involved in, until he realized that he may not have his job as the b-ball coach much longer. Hindsight paid off for Brady on that one.

Off Burbank was some of the worst BBQ I've had...anywhere. No flavor + overcooked. Won't go back.

Sorry you had a bad experience... I pick up 5lbs of pulled pork and brisket all the time On the way to my camp and it's really good. Sides suck though.

Had it once and it was very good. Had a pulled pork sandwich and my girlfriend had brisket. Both were pretty good.

I do like Vodoo BBQ. The BBQ poboys are pretty tasty. Sauce is pretty good also but I'm not a huge BBQ eater.

I'm pretty sure that's the place I've been to every time I visit my brother who lives just outside of Hemphill. The BBQ is excellent. Everytime my bro comes to town I make sure he picks me up a couple of pds.

Joke I heard once:

"Where do you go in Dallas for good BBQ"

"Up I-45 to Kansas City."

Of course I was in KC at the time.
