Can you organize that so it's easier to understand?

Jahri: 1 and 3
He'll probably be extended longterm anyway.

Harper: 1
PT: 1

Jammal Brown: 1
They'll definitely take offers on him, IMO.

Streif: original pick compensation (4th IIRC)
Bushrod: original pick compensation (4th as well)
You can't let all three OTs walk, so it depends what they want to do with Brown.

Moore: 2
Make it known that you'll take less. Hope you can get a 3rd-5th rounder. Someone desperate for veteran WR may bite.

Roby: maybe a 2.

Damn. I thought Brown was a UFA even with the extra year. As a UFA, JB would have gotten a contract, and that would have helped us to sign a player.

No one is giving up a 1st rounder for JB. Maybe we can get a 3rd or something. Maybe.

Brown being restricted is a very good thing. And you can't rule out getting a first. Yes, he is coming off of an injury, but Pro Bowl LTs don't grow on trees. You can't tell me that a team like GB, Arizona, maybe the Cowboys in the first plus a ton of the teams early in the second wouldn't take a chance.

One can hope. I do think Brown is a good player, despite what people around here say. The problem for him is passing a physical. I've heard for awhile now that many thought he would have a short career because his knees are in bad shape.

Please God, let someone give up a 1st rounder for him.

So should we keep him?

I am pretty ignorant of all of this pro stuff as I am more of a college guy although I have pulled for the Saints my entire life. But why would we be LOOKING to get rid of virtually any of our current players.

I understand we might lose some guys due to money but why actively seek out trading Brown for a freaking rookie?

Don't misunderstand, I am not saying we shouldn't I am asking a question.

Well we just won a SB without him. If we don't get an offer we like, we keep him for a season on the cheap. If he plays well, we can franchise him and figure things out from there. If he doesn't, we let him walk.

Because one of two things will happen in 2011 if there is no strike:
1) the cap will come back. We'll have a very specific amount of money to spend and Brees will be making around 1/6th the cap alone. Between Vilma, Greer, Smith, Colston, Bush, Stinky, and soon Sharper and Evans will all have contracts equaling around a combined $55m a year (off the top of my head). So between those 9 players, you're using up about $75m out of $120m available to spend. So You've got 44 players left and they've got to average under $1m each per year.

2) There will be no cap still and Benson doesn't have the money the keep every single stud we draft.

1) Every team needs to try and get better every offseason.

2) The Saints are severely limited to what they can do this offseason to get better because of the uncapped year.

3) As a result, the Saints are going to have to either let players go to sign players, or do unorthodox things like trades in order to improve the roster.

4) JB didn't play a snap for us and we won th SB.

I think the Saints, as will most teams, will treat these RFAs as if it were still a capped year. Otherwise, there will be 20-something 1year contracts. Not sure how most of the younger guys would like that. Also, count on spending more than 1.7mil on Sharper and Undrafted FA money on PT.

If the Saints can get a Second for J. Brown, I say go for it. Yes he is a Pro Bowl Left tackle, but now he has an injury history. Getting a first would be fantastic, I just don't see it happening.

As for Moore, would love to keep him, but someone will jump on him if he has a second round tag. Then again, no one did last year, so we will see. It is almost a blessing that we pick late in the first round this year, mainly due to the fact that this pick will not break he bank so we can sign most of our RFA and UFA.

yes. both are critical players, but I'd put more emphasis on Thomas than anything, and probably make Harper a 2. I believe Thomas was our third most important player on offense behind Brees and Evans. Thomas is too good to let go, so I'd go 1/3 on PT

this is my favorite of them all. make him a 2 though, for it would be more attractive to teams looking to get an LT. A 1 would be too pricey for an injury risk, and I don't believe others will be interested at that cost.

No, No, No.

GB is HUGE on the physical, McCarthy can't screw up, b/c of Farve's season. Plus he prefers to get younger and take the best vailable player on the board

Arizona... Maybe

Dallas... Nope JJ won't do it.
