2 Stats that are bothering me
Posted on 1/13/10 at 6:22 am

Last 16 SEC games
8-8
Last 9 games against top 25
1-8
Say what you want but I really feel that Miles is not a good fit here. I think our talent on the field is right there with the Texas', Bama's and Florida's but we need someone here with fire and can bring a swagger back to this team.
I for one would love Gruden because if he goes to Tennessee, he might very well start off his presser with "Lane Who". I like that in a coach. I want an in your face coach.
I actually enjoyed the video of Miles when he was at OK State. But where did that go? He can show emotion and passion there but not here?
The Ole Miss ending was quite possibly the stupidest thing I have ever seen and when our HC said "I thought I heard timeout called", all I could do is just stare at the TV and think to myself what exactly during the duration of an LSU football game is that man thinking.
Hate to say it but I think we are in trouble as long as he is here. I hope and pray that I am wrong.

Amen brother. I've been saying this since the 08 season. I said a trend has developed and most PosiTigers ate me alive. How's it workin out for em now?

Agreed...if Miles wants to keep his job he needs to put up or shut up in big games against top teams. No more excuses.

You're right. His entire tenure has been a disaster. 4-1 in bowls, 2-0 in BCS games --- shoot the man!

this is what makes you posi-tiger idiots so clueless. Look at what Miles has done with "his" teams....(his recruits, the development of his recruits) and his skill with those players as a gameday coach. there is a trend....and its not a good one...

Think this speaks to the product of a culture that used to be in place and that we started losing once Miles took over. Talking about discipline and execution.

i have to say the one stat bugging me out is the o-lineman that is being recruited. i dont think we are recruiting enough hogs for our track team that we have in the back field.

Nick stopped cashing LSU paychecks in late 04, but you want to credit him for the results of 05, 06, and 07 and you callings others "clueless" and "idiots.
I would suggest you have to look no further than your mirror to find your "idiot" if you are so hot see one.

Bama/Tx game was very telling of what LSU has to do to regain out dominance.
Oline
Dline
If you have superior players than your opponents at those two positons, you will win far more than you lose.
Even with mediocre QB play which we already have.

Two different, young and highly inexperienced QBs over the last two years. No seasoned FB. A poor defense in 2008 by Malveto because Pelini left. You have to play a significant SEC slate to truly get an idea of what's required when you are still maturing as a player. JJ didn't get the reps his freshman season until late in the season when Hatch got injured and Lee was replaced during the Alabama game. He just arrived on campus that fall. All of this would equal 8-8 and 1-8. Top 25 teams aren't just going to let you pass all over them. They do things to confuse you and make you uncomfortable when you're a young QB. I'm not worried until this happens with a veteran team and that begins this coming season, however, we still need to develop a fullback and fix the offensive line as well to improve the running game.

Thanks for this. I certainly haven\'t seen this discussed on here before.

the stat that bothers me is how people use poor stats from poor seasons. no shite he lost games against top opponents, else we wouldn't be pissed about poor seasons. you don't have to go in depth to try to make him look worse. you are taking a small window where he performed poorly and using those figures to try to discredit him further. the only stats that matter right now are the ones in the coming season.

next season tells the tale. the same excuses become a trend after 3 years, not just 2.
It is possible that miles could still right the ship. it bothers me that crowton is still around, though.

One thing that bothers me is that Miles came in with a rep of expertise in o-line, saying he wanted to run the ball well, etc... Yet LSU's running game in year 5 was very suspect...
Saban, in comparison, was touted as a defensive coach with a strenght in developing CBs and immediately started turning out solid secondaries and developing corners...

If there is a trend, it appears to be an upward to me, but each to our own.

I assume you compiled the statistics for TOP 25 teams based on the final ap standings and not the rankings when LSU played the team. If you factor in the ranking of the opponent at the time of the game, the record for the past two seasons looks like this.
2008
WIN #9 Auburn
LOSS #12 Florida
LOSS #9 Georgia
LOSS #1 Alabama
WIN #14 Georgia Tech
2009
WIN #14 Georgia
LOSS #1 Florida
LOSS #3 Alabama
LOSS #14 Penn St
Total 3-6
No real difference, I see your point. We need to get better in big games. I was just interested in what the change would be if it were done this way.
