regarding the future of the program?

Lets take a look back...

The 2008 season miles had to kick off R. Perrilloux, who was slated to take over as the starting QB, and had to roll with a walk-on Harvard transfer and a RS freshman who wasn't ready to play. That season ended 7-5 regular season and 8-5 with a bowl win and what was expected given the production out of the QB position. The shouldn't have been a sole tiger fan out there who thought we could've won more than 9 games max that year.

The 2009 season went exactly how most of us thought it would go 9-3 during the regular season. The team again had to break in a new QB this season and the production of the offense suffered b/c of it. Yeah, there was trouble with the play calling, the offensive line, lack of use of RS and such, but the point of the matter is they were still breaking in JJ. Even with all the problems we encountered this season we still was close to winning 10 or more games this season.

This upcoming season we should see GREAT improvement and the WANT to get better on both sides of the balls is prevelant. LOL Just had to throw a traditional Miles statement in there. But seriously, we have athletes all over the field and with JJ gaining experiences from last season and the position coaching changes we have made thus far, I believe we can be a very good team next year. I seriously believe that we can we at a minimum 10 games next season. I just don't get it how so many people on here thinks that the tiger football program is heading to the medocrity years of the 90's.

Given all that Miles has accomplished thus far in his tenure and the dilemmas he's had to overcome, he deserves credit and backing of the LSU faithful at a minimum of two more years to right the ship. I believe he can get the job done.

Fear da hat!!!

8-5
9-4
$3.8 million a year

It's really that simple.

Because most of the Nega-tigers are too young to remember the many years of bad to mediocre teams/coaching we sat thru just wishing every year LSU could be regarded as a top tier program.

LSU fans (on this site) have become a bunch of spoiled snotty kids.........

I wasn't upset with the 9-3 record. Losses to UF, Bama, & UM, were expected. The UGA game was a huge question mark before the season.
What's frustrating is the lack of improvement and execution of the fundamentals of the game--both coaching and player wise.
Aside from Jasper's fg kicking, what area were you extremely confident in or pleased with?

This is stupid. Coaches go away from what works and sticks with what doesn't.

500 in the sec with 1 win over a top 25 team in the past 2 yrs.

Why is it so hard to believe we are in an uproar with these numbers?

Who's fault that LSU only signed one quarterback in that class. How about the fact that Les is about to make the same mistake again, think about this.....if Jarrett Lee trasnfers, and Zach Lee goes to pro baseball, we are back to square one next year, and if there is an injury it could be disastrous.

Because a lot of folks believe that Joe Alleva=Joe Dean.

I know Saban gets the credit for our success, but Mark Emmert was truly the visionary that turned us into a championship caliber program. The last two seasons could be seen as a sign that this vision is gone and that the administration will accept the status quo as long as it's still turning a profit.

I've been a Les supporter, but based on this season's performance it appears he is either
A)incompetent
B)doesn't give a shite

I think it's more likely B, because I haven't seen that competitive fire in him since the BCSNCG, and I don't think we will see it again from Les. All we get now from Les is this coachspeak nonsense that ignores the elephant in the room.

The administration doesn't give us much confidence that they will steer the ship back on course, either.

It is because of how we played in the wins this year. Not once this year has LSU dominated any team that it was suppose to. Barely winning at Vandy, Wash, Miss St, and Arkansas plus looking horrible against ULL, Tulane, La Tech is not conforting. I understand in a years time, every football team has let down games, but to have 7 of them is not inspiring.

With the non- progression of JJ and the coaching on this team. These barely wins will turn into more losses.

This is why people are worried.

Like inheriting the most talented football team in the country. That is a lot of dilemmas to overcome. We have dilemmas now, it is coaching

Every day there is a new thread asking this same question. If you can't see for yourself that there are problems in this program, then it's unlikely that you will accept any answer that I can provide.

Anyone that has watched the games last couple of seasons and say's that this is a well coached team is dilusional. How can you ignore the same ridiculous mistakes occuring game after game and not just Tiger fan base, but national media portrays us as a running joke; This is unacceptable to me. I will never give up on Tigers or my season tickets, but for $4M a year, I have a "want" to see CLM straighten out this SOON as in 2010!

We should have beat Arkansas. That would have put us at 9 wins with the bowl victory. Mental breakdowns costs us that game.

Ridiculous. With any kind of decent defense, we easily could have won 9 games that year, even with the QB situation the way it was. With any kind of decent QB coaching AND any kind of decent defense, we would have won every game that year except Florida.

9-3 wasn't the point (although many predicted better). It was throwing away the Ole Miss game with sheer stupidity, then throwing away a chance against Penn State with the same kind of stupidity.

This upcoming season we should see GREAT improvement

We SHOULD have seen it over the past two years. We WON'T see it as long as Les Miles is our head coach.
quote:

seriously, we have athletes all over the field

Yes, we seriously do. So, why do we lose half our conference games now?
quote:

position coaching changes we have made thus far

What? Bringing in a fricking wide receivers coach? You think the 112th best offense in the country was because our wide receivers weren't being coached properly?
quote:

I believe we can be a very good team next year. I seriously believe that we can we at a minimum 10 games next season.

There's no question that the talent is there to win 11 or even 12 games in the regular season next year. Unfortunately, the coaching is not there to win even nine. Although we have 11-1 or 12-0 talent, 8-4 is our best case scenario, with 6-6 or 7-5 much more likely than 8-4 or better.

The 90s weren't mediocre. They were worse than that. Whether we fall all the way down to the level we were at in the 90s depends solely on how long Alleva is willing to let Miles ride the program into the ground. If he fires him after next season, we might avoid the full-on collapse that happened back then. If Miles gets two more years or longer, we could very easily be right back at 1990 or so.

Oh, he's the reason LSU produced it's worst defense since Complete Linebacking, allowing UGA and UF put up 50+. Excellent. And how many games did RP start in his career at LSU? 1?

Yes, completely expected to play tight games against the monsters of the gridiron in Washington, Vandy, MSU and La Tech. Having the 112th ranked offense was superb. Never beating a team that finished in the top 25, that's LSU football now.

Here's a list of the juggernauts LSU owes 8 of its last 17 wins against:
Appalachian St. (NC)
North Texas
Tulane (LA)
Troy (AL)
Washington
Louisiana-Lafayette
Louisiana Tech

Against any decent compeition - including crap teams likes MSU and Vanderbilt - Miles is 9 wins, 9 losses. Why be upset? Let's hold hands and sing Kumbaya.

Your are crazy! There are FRESHMAN QB's that did MUCH better!! Hell, Mcelroy played his 1st college game this year and Bama won the NC!!

The way they played even in wins, was HORRIBLE!!
I have seen little league teams that are coached MUCH better than LSU's team in 2009!! No excuses!

B/c Saban is at Bama and is doing extremely well. This IS the reason. Anyone that thinks otherwise is kidding themselves. If Bama had some random guy like Shula coaching them right now, people would be okay with Miles.

A better question might be: When aren't some Tigers fans in an uproar over something or the other?
