Fujita has Emergency Surgery

Fujita is a key piece of the Saints run defense, and unfortunately it appears as if the team will be without his services for a while. He was scratched from Sunday's game against Washington because of the injury, and he may not return until the playoffs. New Orleans' perfect season could be in jeopardy if they are pitted against a tough running game.
Sorry if germans
EDIT: it was staph infection in his knee

Fujita really doesn't get enough credit. He flies to the outside on runs, seems to always be in on the tackle, blitzes well, and is capable of covering people out of the back field. I hope he comes back soon, he's crucial.

per rotoworld
Saints SLB Scott Fujita was scratched in Week 13 because he needed surgery to repair a staph infection in his knee.
He needed an emergency operation and sat out against Washington despite being probable on the injury report. Fujita is integral to a Saints run defense that's been up and down all season. It's unclear how long he'll be out, but it wouldn't be surprising if we didn't see him before the playoff

He has six weeks before we need him.

well, staph shouldnt keep him out THAT long, unless it comes back
but definitely dont rush him back, hopefully dunbar is healthy to back him up

Hope it is not an MRSA. Those things are dangerous!!

Anyone think the Saints should look to sign a potential FA pick up to help the Linebacking core?
Our 3 starters are very solid, but beyond that we lack any depth.
Are there any free agent LBers that we can go for?

Don't know if the two are identical, but remember that Peyton Manning had a staph infection in his knee in 2008 that kept him on the shelf for 6-8 weeks.

i hope so
jolonn dunbar is a solid backup, but he went down today too

I can't think of anyone on a Practice Squad out there that would be a worthwhile pickup...
Canadian FB just wrapped up for the season - wonder if short-term help could be found there... Those guys would likely be in good condition (compared to a FA).

frick, staph is serious business. kellen winslow missed a lot of games in cleveland because of it. its hard to get rid of and worst of all spreads like wildfire. hoping he can recover quickly, but err on the side of caution. sucks we lost arcenaux so fast, wouldve been nice to have a young LB step in.
