I need yalls help in eliminating some of these guys. We started with exactly 65 names, many of which were immediately eliminated for obvious reasons, leaving us with about 40 or so in the realistic candidate pool (With yalls help eliminating candidates for legitimate reasons, we are down to 12 names remaining as of 10am Thursday morning). For reference, see: 2009 NCAA Stats & Pre-2009 Stats

I just don't see us realistically hiring an OC at a non-BCS school like Houston or TCU or Tulsa or Boise and risking a Tony Franklin fiasco. Based on Miles' track record in hiring coordinators, the OC is going to be an OC at a current BCS conference school and/or a fired head coach at a current BCS school with an outside possibility of the hire being an NFL guy.

Too many unrealistic possibilities. Our next OC will likely be the current OC at a school in one of the six BCS conferences.

NFL guys and non-BCS schools I just don't see it happenin.

how about just start with the OC's at lower tier BCS schools and upper tier non-BCS schools?

Bounce those teams off the Total Offense rankings to see who might want to jump to LSU.

An OC at an upper tier BCS school probably won't leave for the same job at LSU.

Agreed... for that reason, I'm about to eliminate Florida's OC, Texas' OC, etc.

That said, Crowton came to LSU straight from Oregon, so we'll have to decide on a case-by-case basis on some of the "upper-tier" schools, I guess. For example, although I highly doubt Bobo comes from Georgia, that hire would not shock me.

I think you can mark off Mike Bobo. Doubt Georgia gets rid of him.

Gunter Brewer can likely be marked off as well. Gundy and Miles do not get along and I doubt he's heard much positive about Les.

Paul Chryst is a Wisconsin alum, so I doubt he leaves.

Galen Hall is connected to Joe Pa and is a PSU alum.

Those are all guys I'd eliminate off hand.

Good info... marked them all off.

That's what I'm looking for, as I had no Idea about Wiscy's OC being a UW alum or the Penn State OC....

to be quite honest, I don't know much about quite a few of these guys in the Big10 and Big East. What about the Buckeye's OC? Can he be marked off?
