What about playing the other 11 SEC teams each year?

Food for thought as I absorb the idea of LSU playing FCS teams over the next few seasons: Have every SEC team play all other SEC teams...that is 11 games. You would get to play one OOC game to complete the 12 game schedule.
Two teams with best conference record would play in SEC Championship game (since the SEC would never eliminate that game for obvious reasons).
Dog the Pac-10 all you want, but I think it is cool how every team plays each other in football.
Now, this would never happen, but how cool would it be? Would reduce the OOC cupcakes from our schedule to a max of one. And it would better determine the SEC champion.
In a scenario like this, there would be some scheduling issues...as half the teams would play 6 home SEC games, and the other half would only get 5 home SEC games...

i liked the idea someone had of having the division record count for who wins the West then conference record...makes the division games count even more
playing all the other teams would be a fun season though, but it would never happen

there really would be no point in having an SECCG then...other then to possibly boot an SEC team from the NCG

id rather play one non conference team, one team from the other division. then play every team in your division twice.

interesting idea, but probably unworkable....would be nice to see an extra conference game added to the schedule though.....get rid of one of the cupcakes....

I would rather have them be forced to play other Div. 1 teams instead of 1-AA. Getting bragging rights over the Big 10, Pac-1, Big 12, etc. would be more worthwhile than playing all the other SEC teams.

the cupcakes would all protest

Playing in the sec is hard enough with the 4 ooc games.
Until other BCs conferences do more to boost their schedules, I don't think we should.
Regular season inequality is the biggest problem with college football today. And no playoff fixes that.

i thought we were talking about determining what is fair and who deserves it the most
thats what i got from your original post
in this instance it is useless, pac 10 and big 10 dont have one...im sure the reason for not having would be the same for the SEC

The NCAA, or at least the BCS collaboration of schools, should do something to regulate scheduling.
BCS teams should at least be forced to schedule home and homes, against each other.
I think an all SEC schedule, playing ONLY the same 11 teams every year and nobody else, would get a bit boring after a while.

Either play all 11 evey season, or maybe play 10 per season with two quality OOC games (e.g., West Virginia and UNC). Follow that with a playoff system for the NC. Who here really enjoys watching LSU play Western Carolina or Southern Illinois? Not me.

yeah, and the non con team would ALWAYS be a cupcake, but there would be no doubt about who the best team in each division is.
plus the other division team could rotate rather than this "lsu always has to play florida handicap" we deal with year in year out.
this would be pimp in conjunction with a national playoff system.

I'm not saying the sec schedule is unmanageable, but it is decisively harder for the big east, but winning each carries the same reward.
Why make it even harder and make the possibility of that 2 bcs team that much harder?

That would be the best part of it. The SECCG would be the National Championship.

I like it. It's usually a classic matchup. Why take away the highlight of the season?

quote:I agree...this would not make sense under the current system...but if a playoff system was created that only included teams that won their conference, then this could be a viable plan.

because some programs are better than other programs. seriously, why do we play florida every year and someone else gets to play vandy every year.
why in the hell dosen't this rotate?
