If there's a Newk's around, try their Pimento Cheese.

Yes. My mothers and she lives just around the corner and about two hours ago I had a great pimento cheese sandwich. First one I've had in a long time. I brought some home for tonight.

But store bought Calvin is spot on. My wife has his chicken salad down pretty close.

I need to try that. I can only handle Pimento if it's Grade A quality. Nothing is much worse than a shitty Pimento Cheese that tastes like a bitter batch of Milk of Magnesia and cheesey salty chunks of pasty porridge dip. But...judging by how damn good their chicken salad is and the mash potatoes, too, I will have to say it's worth a shot. I think Calvin's puts out way tastier and better foods than rip-off outlets like Whole Foods and the like.

Man...I wish I had a key to Calvin's right now. I'd nab about a gallon or 2 of that chicken salad.

I throw everything, HB eggs, chicken, mayo, celery, green onion, relish, S&P in food processor and pulse it a couple of times. I don't want a puree, mine is a little chunkier than Calvins. If you want a real good version, use smoked chicken and don't just use breasts, dark meat has a lot of flavor.

WE always just used fresh grated cheddar cheese, mayo, and pimentos, put it on fresh Bunny white bread and an Ice Cold glass of milk

Calvin's Pimento I like.

But, Calvin's Chicken Salad, I've never understood the hype, it tastes bland to me, and has a pate texture..at best it's a starter base to take home and doctor it up bigtime.

I much prefer chunk/tea-room chicken salad.

Love Calvin's chicken salad and it's the texture that I really like. I don't like chunky chicken salad, though.

yeah, i prefer a chunkier chicken salad too..i'll bet ralph's market probably compares to calvin's chicken salad...coffee bean on coursey has a very good chunky chicken salad.

My aunt used to work there, it is not homemade. They put it in containers out of a big carton of premade spread.
