a dual threat would imply Hatch also had ability to throw....

Of course he was being sarcastic.

If throwing is a requirement, then that disqualifies a lot of people. I just assumed it was someone at the QB position that ran just as much as he threw.
I liked Hatch. He wasn't scared to take a hit.

Hatch was more of a dual-threat than Jefferson.
errrr... was being the operative word. and only because Hatch was playing while JJ was redshir... uhh... nursing his shoulder injury. once young Jordan got some significant snaps under his belt, he was threatening teams all over the place. (occasionally we were the team being threatened by his inaccuracy, but it'll be ok, trust me.)
when you're able to move the ball effectively either as a pocket passer or on designed sweeps and draws, well, you're a dual threat. you may threaten more in one area than the other, but you're still threatening in both.

Lee on QB and growth...
Jefferson on Lee and QB position...
quote:
“We’ve really pushed each other and have learned together and really grown up mentally,” Lee said. “I learned a lot during last season about being more patient and trusting in guys and understanding how important it is to let them make plays.
“I think I’ve grown up a lot as a person and as a player,” Lee said. “I’ve been watching film, hitting the weights and learning from my mistakes. I feel like my maturity level has gone up tremendously.”
Jefferson on Lee and QB position...
quote:
“Jarrett is a very fierce competitor, but he’s shown me a lot of the different things I need to do better,” Jefferson said. “He’s very good in our passing game and a lot of people don’t realize that even though he threw some interceptions, he threw a lot more good passes.”
“Coach Crowton is going to make sure we’re both ready to go and know what we need to do when he puts us out there,” Jefferson said. “I’m very confident that I can be the starter for this team and we can be good. But if there are some times when Jarrett needs to come in and gives us the best chance to win, I’m good with that.”

That JJ was the better QB because he was a dual threat.
JJ is much faster than lee

No one ever seriously mentioned JL and option in the same sentence
the writer didn't say he ran the ball better than JJ
the writer said he was better at the faking involved in the option

Jefferson being a "dual threat" is another myth that needs to bite the dust. He has been listed as a pro-style since he was in high school.
he is pro-style
he isn't a great runner yet b/c he's been a pro style QB
he's still very fast for a 6-4 QB and can throw on the run, and therefore he's mobile

quote:um... the 'dual' aspect of a 'dual-threat' quarterback means the quarterback throws and runs really well... not that he throws and pitches and fakes really well.
That shockingly, JL looked better at the dual part of the threat. But as has been said, it is early, and a non-contract drill.

lee is a tiger you ungrateful fricks you should be cheering for him to be successful cause we may need his services. keep it up you bastards.

Didn't say he ran better...he actually delivered the ball better and ran better fakes. Nothing about running ability. A defense is not going to respect Lee running the ball. Horn fan go home...maybe Kindle will need a ride home so he can text drunk.

this thread is about his mobility, not his overall play

JJ's response to a journalist about his mobility...
Rivals, Scout, and ESPN ranked him as a "top 10 pro-style" QB out of high school.
quote:
"I lean toward both ways," Jefferson said in assessing his own game.
He did not mean, he said, that he is equally comfortable in both offenses (he prefers the traditional attack). But he is committed to making the play the situation requires.
"I'll use my athletic ability to run the ball when I have to, but my philosophy is throw it first and run second," he said. "I would like to get the yards by passing. I want to throw the ball, but I will make whatever play we think can beat you. That's basically how I play football."
Rivals, Scout, and ESPN ranked him as a "top 10 pro-style" QB out of high school.

i didn't mean to direct it at you sfp.

JJ is a pro style QB
he's just really fast
the reason he's not an amzing runner is b/c he's a pocket passer and always has been. he never trained his running tools

If I said that it's a bad idea for Al Woods to return kicks this season, would I be considered an ungrateful frick?

thank god for sfp. It said lee pitched the ball better. Too bad the option also requires you to run the ball and for the defense to think of you as a legit running threat. In additon jefferson's running threat comes more from broken plays and ability to escape the pocket. Thats where he's 100 times better than Lee and why he is mentioned as "dual-threat"

That arguments not very well thought out. If the QB does a poor job on delivery or fakes, the D will make an easy read. Stopping both the RB or QB from gaining any yardage.
Sheesh!
