I hope Dana tells him to take a walk. Fedor and his agent are the reason he won't join the UFC and this article proves it. I will say it again, the UFC doesn't need Fedor as much as Fedor and the joke that is M-1 needs the UFC.

yep.
Fedor is risking fading away to an urban legend of sorts, and losing relevancy.

I am beginning to come around here. I do not see the UFC agreeing to a co-promotion and if they do not, I think Fedor will probably fight Barnett soon. If he agrees to fight in Pride again, they would actually have a pretty good Grand Prix they could put together.
Fedor will not fade into obscurity anytime soon, but we may never get to see Fedor in the UFC against Lesnar. Guess we will find out Friday.

true.
so what's the deal? Is Fedor just really dim? It's like Fink has mind control over him. Fedor never even makes a comment of any substance besides blind support for that nutjob.
I have to think Fedor is a good enough guy, but his reps are a joke.

I have no idea. I do know Fedor holds an equity interest in M-1 Global (I would bet significant), so whatever is good for M-1 Global is also good for Fedor's bottom line.

Pride is done

I used "pride" for simplicity. If you need me to be more accurate than a union of Dream and Sengoku.
quote:
Emelianenko has to hope the two major Japanese promotions, Sengoku and Dream, put their differences aside and work together one more time like they did for their co-promoted “Yarennoka!” event on New Year’s Eve in 2007. If that happens, the highly anticipated showdown between Emelianenko and Barnett might happen in the country where their rivalry started.
Looking ahead to next year, cooperation between Sengoku and Dream looks quite desirable, as that could enable fight fans around the globe to witness a remake of the Pride heavyweight grand prix in 2004, during which the best heavyweight fighters in the world collided.
quote:
With rumors about a new heavyweight tournament bustling for months and fighters like Kazuyuki Fujita, Barnett, Jeff Monson, Marcio Cruz, Antonio Silva, James Thompson, Blagoi Ivanov, Satoshi Ishii, Mark Hunt, Sergei Kharitonov, Bob Sapp, Semmy Schilt and the Overeem brothers in active working relationships with either one of these two promotions, Emelianenko may again find a challenge to his moniker as the strongest fighter on earth in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Not sure that is accurate. I think it is likely Fedor makes more money if he does not join the UFC. M-1 Global would be hurt, his endorsements would be hurt, etc. EA just announced they would feature Fedor on their new game "MMA". Who knows how much Fedor is being paid, but if he was in the UFC, his contract would prevent it.

i doubt the video game would stop the ufc from signing him

M-1 is shite compared to the UFC, so i assume Fedor's stake in that company is not near as valuable as his reps say. With various orgs falling by the wayside and the UFC getting bigger overseas, even financially it is starting to make more and more sense to join the UFC.
I think Maximus has linked several articles/quotes bluntly stating that the UFC's package is the most financially lucrative.

Meh. Just have Barnett and Fedor and be done with it. Then send him to the UFC.

I do not know for sure and I doubt anyone does except Fedor or M-1 themselves what Fedor's total revenue stream is. With all the restrictions on endorsements and exclusivity that UFC contracts carry, I believe it is hard to say definitively which direction would pay him more. I do not think it is all about money at the end of the day anyway.
That said, I really want Fedor to sign with the UFC pretty badly. However, I will also point out that the card another Grand Prix could put together would likely be greater in terms of the best fighters than anything the UFC can offer at the moment.

Jerry Millen that fricking scrub who ruined Pride and EliteXC and who is the biggest Dana hater on earth is the VP of M-1 so that is not a good sign. If Fedor is letting that frickup have any say, then this is a lost cause.
this quote from yahoo doesnt sound as bleak as the quotes from Sherdog though

He says that the UFC met the counter “very quietly.” The UFC resisted holding a co-promoted event, even in attempts to land Emelianenko.
“The UFC made a different offer that was a very good offer,” continued Finkelchtein, but it still hasn’t been enough to bridge the gap between the two parties and they remain at an impasse.
The door is still open for those that hope to see Fedor Emelianenko in the octagon across from Brock Lesnar or Randy Couture.
“Maybe not now, but maybe later,” Finkelchtein said of further progress being possible.

The next Rickson Gracie.

I actually want to see Fedor fight Randy and then Brock in the UFC.

pretty much a waste. they're both huge names and i'm sure it will sell a lot but if he loses i'd much rather it be to the 300lb champion rather than a 45 year old.

While I wouldn't mind seeing Fedor maul Randy before facing Brock, it wouldn't happen first as Dana has already said if they sign Fedor, he gets a title shot as the number 1 contender immediately.
And I know you like Randy and think he has a chance, but I do not and do not think Randy is even top 5 anymore.

That is where we differ my friend.

I hope Brock faces Fedor, but I hope he fights at least one more time or two more times before he faces Fedor.
