I kinda agreed with him before, but we clearly did not have all the facts. It is clear now that Fedor's people are very unreasonable.

Fedor is scared! What kind of du-mas would turn that offer down. He wants to get an easy paycheck and steamroll garbage for the rest of his life FWIW IMHO

OK, I just scanned this thread and if this was already mentioned and I missed it, sorry.

M-1 is Russia based, correct? If so, I would venture to guess there are Russian mafia types involved and they have their hooks in Fedor pretty deep. That kind of shite happens a lot with Russian hockey players and other athletes.

If you think the Russian mafia shaking down professional athletes is a movie plot, you are a fool. It is very prevelant. THere are many documented cases of them shaking down pro hockey and tennis players. Sergei Federov was one of them.

These Russian fricks are short sighted. M-1 will never be shite with or without Fedor.

All this is is a cash grab by the crazy jew Russian and the biggest douchebag to walk the earth, Jerry Millen.
If Fedor can go play the freak show game in Japan and fade into obscurity. I wish for once he would stand up for himself.
Fedor is a power bottom. Seriously.

i dont think it's as prevelant as u may think, but i agree it does exist. fedor's brother has a checkered history with some unseemly characters so I wouldn't completely dismiss it.

i think one poster put it best that Fedor's such a laid back guy and prolly lets people walk all over hiim. or maybe a combination of both. either way, it's a tragedy for the fans.

well fedor's staying in the fricking anaheim hilton right now and doesnt speak a lick of english. i dont see him as the type to search the internet all day when he could be playing old lady card games so all he hears about these negotiations are what these M-1 people choose to tell him

At this point, I don't think he cares. He'll fight in the ring and let everyone battle it out at negotiations.

he probably brought his army men with him too.

and to the poster above that mentioned mafia ties. Who freaking knows. At this point, not much would shock me from the crazy russians.

Yeah, Russian mob is pretty f'n scary. When I went to my brother's Bachelor Party in Czech Republic, the first thing he told me is "This strip club is owned by Russian Mafia. You will just disappear if you get yourself into bad trouble in here" lol. It wouldn't surprise me if there was a little of that going on.

maybe cash/maximus can give us some insight with Aleksander's mafia connections. There has been some rumors with the tatoos and all.

I think way too many people in this thread are ignoring how big the mma market is in japan and the rest of the world. Fighters can actually make tons of money there and in other parts of the world.

The freak show sells tickets and makes people rich.

Except from everything I've read its not about the money. Its about M1 wanting to co-promote this thing.

I think the UFC should walk away from Fedor at this point. Every year that goes by his skills will fade and he will never live up the hype he once had.

Let him go to Japan and make the big bucks and never really test himself on a consistant basis like he would have to do in the UFC. He will find fighters here and there but nothing like he would in the UFC.

Which is ultimately still about the money. Being a co-promoter with UFC gives them instant legitimacy.

From what I've read, Fedor is a co-owner of M1, so it's not like he's a puppet of Finkelstein or the Russian mafia.

Sounds like Fedor is a greedy bastard and his legend will definitely fall off if he doesn't fight in the UFC and rightfully so.

If he wants money, he's been offered it with the UFC, but there's obviously something we're all missing. Maybe it's really important to him for M1 to be successful. I don't know why it would be though as $5 million a fight would be plenty to not worry about co-promoting.

Not $5 million per fight rich. Not to mention, his endorsement dollars will increase exponentially. What the UFC offers at this point is stability. Is there another fight promotion in the world that can give out a 30 million dollar contract? Hell no.
Dana and Lorenzo will keep this guy fighting top talent too. If they have to go out and sign someone they will do it.
