+ 10000000000000000000000000

you beat one Texas "pissed because we got the cotton bowl and not something bigger" Tech team

and all the sudden you are poised to win it all...

if they even sniff a 10 win season this year i will be shocked

only thing they have going for them is a cupcake scheduale with the ffew tough ones at home.

I like Virginia Tech, but once again they are overrated. They always fold down the stretch and then finish strong. Oregon yah right!

True. And Southern Cal is a little high for lacking a proven QB. They are going to finish a Top 10 team, but they may struggle to get back to the Rose Bowl this year.

Ok, I'll say it. LSU is too high on that list.

We may turn out to be a great team but there are a lot of question marks going in to this season.

Ole Miss will not live up to expectations. They have a lot more room to drop than they do to rise.

For a team that has never even won its own division, #5 is too high. That said, I love it! This sets up great for LSU ... a team pissed about last year, kind of "overlooked" in favor of Ole Miss and Bama ... no national expectations for winning the SEC, etc....

We're poised for a great year.

8. LSU

Any team on any given Saturday can either win or lose depending on the how they are coached or how they play as a cohesive team.

I know Sports Writers have a job to do, and the fan-base can rant approval/disapproval at the tome. But, for the Sporting News to rank LSU so low in this poll, they obviously must have collectively 's on the brick-wall of ignorance and lost all since of reason in their utter frustration of trying to pin the tail on the donkey of the BCS poll. They need to quit wishful thinking and come to their collective senses, realizing that on balance LSU is #1.

Ole Miss is about to get a lesson in the statistical concept of “regression to the mean”. I can understand a national rank, but #5? Really? For a team that lost four games? One year removed from failing to win a single conference game? I’m not buying.

this is the first time that they are returning their ENTIRE defense. I'd say that their ranking is well deserved.
