I've never been...but the menu looked good & I was wondering what the price range is for dinner for two with drinks.
Also, what's worth getting there?

My favorite upscale restaurant in BR.
The price will be basically $100 for appetizer, 2 entress, two salads and couple drinks.
I always get the Duck Mansur, bisque, lettuce wedge and creme brulee.

I had the chargrilled oysters and they were phenomenal

It was a much nicer place, when it was in the old Village Square shopping center.

Exactly. It's sort of just become the typical semi-upscale BR restaurant cliche.
Ditzy/disinterested college student waitstaff, check;
Bland strip mall location, check;
Spinich artichocke dip on the menu, check;
Some version of a sensation salad, check;
A crabmeat/cream based soup, check;
A bunch of mundane meat and fish dishes, topped with crabmeat if you want, check;
Nothing else remotely interesting or inventive on the menu, so as not to offend diners' sensibilities, check.
It's not horrible, but I seem to recall they actually aspired to do something really good, when they were in Village Square.

I've also been toying with the idea of taking my SO to New Orleans instead of BR. Maybe August, Stella, Cobalt, MiLa, La Provencal, etc. suggestions?
I don't really want to do the "old gaurd" in NOLA (i.e. commander's, galatoire's, Emeril's, etc) so I want to try something more contemporary.

Stella is the best in the city followed by August. Be prepared for some real "unique" dishes at Stella.
La Provence is in LaCombe on the northshore near Mandeville if you want a country style trip.

Have they really done in this direction? Are they also serving Yellowtail by the glass now?

Best meals I've had lately in N.O. (in no particular order), were at Lilette, Pelican Club, and Gautreaus.
Cobalt ain't dere no more. It's now Luke, John Besh's more casual place.

Was there a couple weeks ago. Good food.

Maybe this should be another topic...but, why doesn't Baton Rouge have a upscale, chef driven restaurant...I know there are a few places that chip to the green, but no one really cutting edge?

And I thought I was cynical & sarcastic
spinach artichoke dip is my never fail mark of mediocre food for mediocre diners. It is a little like "wrapped in bacon and stuffed with cream cheese".

Went to Stella in New Orleans in April. It was great...I highly recommend the Scallops and also the Duck 5 Ways. We've been trying to get into August every trip down to NO and never can.

Totally agree. Of course, I'm new to town so maybe there are places that I'm not aware of. I plan on trying Stroube's Chophouse soon...it seems a little more along the lines of the upscale, chef driven restaurant.
